Listening to Dropati's singing bought back so many beautiful memories of my mum❤

Amazing to hear this song. People in Suriname have still preserved the culture that their ancestors brought hundreds of years ago, which itself is being forgotten.

Hi Suriname Heritage, ik vind uw video geweldig! Ik wilde weten hoe ik met u in contact kan komen? Ik zou uw video graag willen gebruiken in een tentoonstelling van het Tropenmuseum in Amsterdam, en bezoekers de prachtige muziek van Dropati laten zien. Zouden wij hierover kunnen hebben? Bedankt, Juliet

I am from eastern Uttar Pradesh. This language is different from our awadhi-bhojpuri
@himkent164 жыл бұрын
This language came from Uttar Pradesh in 1850s , it's s much older language than what's spoke n now. It's the original Bhoupuri language from old india
@nirvanabhagwandin63273 жыл бұрын
So what is your point? You have over 110 different languages in India.
@soundcheck2k73 жыл бұрын
They are singing in the Bhojpuri dialect of the 1800s, not the modern day Bhojpuri language you are speaking. Languages and dialects change over time... that is inevitable.
@rishabhrox12 жыл бұрын
This language is called "Sarnami Hindustani", and it is a mix of Bhojpuri (that too, the one spoken in 1800's) with a lot of vocabulary taken from other languages of Suriname like Sranan Tongo, Dutch etc. So yes, it is different from India's Awadhi-Bhojpuri-Magahi but, it has a common root with them and hence you can hear some familiarity. (And with words like Rama and Sita being used, if is obvious this song is referencing some part of the Indian Sanskrit language epic - Ramayana)

Many things in diaspora are a time capsule. Things forgotten in India can sometimes still be found in diaspora.
