I hope we get a true punk renaissance in the next few years. I've grown up in the scene, and now I'm at the age where my dad and his friends saw the wave of 90s punk. I'm never going to be able to experience that for myself, but I hope I see something like it while I'm young like they were
@thepunkrockreview8 күн бұрын
Well, the 90s was an anomaly and will likely never happen again (and I don't want it to, if I'm honest). But there's a punk rock renaissance happening right now, so soak it in my dude!

I was born in ‘82, so I’m totally about your age and we probably got into punk in similar times. This DKM album is probably one of the most important albums of my life too. Back when this album released, I saw them play with Sacramento’s legendary Oi Band Pressure Point, who were, I think track one on the same Give ‘Em the Boot where everyone heard Barroom Hero for the first time. That was my first ever Oi show: DKM with Mike and Pressure Point. You should do a video on Pressure Point or Whiskey Rebels. Both bands are awesome West Coast Oi.
@thepunkrockreview9 күн бұрын
Track 1 on that comp is Rancid "The Brothels", Pressure Point was at the back end of the track list

Mike mccolgan interviews was part of my way in for sure, for me the first "oi" band I got into was either Street dogs or when lars brought out "Viking".

@@thepunkrockreview He would be awesome, such a great story, started dropkicks after leaving the army, left the band to be a fire fighter, but then got the itch to do music again so started street dogs as a hobby band, but the hobby band blew up, isn't Johnny rioux also in Houston?

Oi is the best music in the world. 🇬🇧 check out the band Combat 84 a true sound of what was happing in the UK at the time.
@loneleelife8 күн бұрын
Yeah, if you want to hear right wing RAC bs…
@ChrisBrown-ko4lu7 күн бұрын
@ WTF! Why is it every early Skin/ Oi band is B&H or RAC? Thats why members of Combat 84 played for the UK Subs and The Exploited and Detford John has played and knows every one! They were of a time and stood up for what was happening at the time here in England, the singer got into Football related stuff etc. Just like it for what it was! Link records in the UK would sell all sorts of Oi related records and the owner was from The Business and he would not release anything untoward! Oi is not this watered down stuff that gets played today! It’s not always about Sparrer!!

Never understood why musicians promote working class when they don’t and haven’t lived that life.

@travistytoday4031Сағат бұрын
the Buisness, uk subs, cockney rejects, angelic upstarts, the bruisers. I guess some of the uk bands probably came from working class neighborhoods so they align themselves with that lifestyle but they are lifelong musicians. Mike McColgan the singer on the Do or Die album became a firefighter for a hot minute but went back to music. Just my two cents. I appreciate the forum to voice my opinion.
