As an Irishman, the Irish American culture fascinates me. Unlike so many of my ignorant countrymen, I'm very proud that people from this little rock did their bit to create such a great country. Those who trot out the plastic paddy BS should consider this; whilst Irish culture was suppressed in Ireland, it thrived in America - so one could argue that our post nationalist Irish culture is actually younger than the Irish-American tradition. Irish-American was a proud identity half a century before an independent Irish state even existed. America gave the Irish the right to an identity that a British controlled Ireland denied them. Who's the 'plastic Paddy' now?
@RobSmith201610 жыл бұрын
I am also an Irishman and I agree
@22grena8 жыл бұрын
Irish culture is also Irish emigrant culture. Without the back and forth between all the countries the Irish went to and Ireland itself the music, the dance and the literature would not have developed into the world class things they are today. St Patricks Day parades started in America. Irish music in pubs started in London. Irish traditional music perfected and sped up by influences in America like ragtime jazz. Irish punk by London Irish band the Pogues. The Irish freedom movement was sustained, perfected and made possible outside Ireland.

This song really touches my heart. I was a Filipino high school student when I first got in love with hockey, and in my college days, this song got me the chills and excitement whenever a New England team plays, especially the Big Bad Bruins. I was a Caps fan at first, but as time goes by, leading into the 2010s, I've become a converted, solid, Bruins fan. Dropkick Murphys made me a true B's fan, and it will always be like that until I die. BRUINS FOR LIFE!
