BKXC when you ride and you are cruising, why do you put your thumbs on the outside of your bars?

BKXC you can get a tape that comes in a tube (can't for life of me think of its name) that once wet goes on like a bandage but when it's dry is as hard as metal it's a good thing for one of you to carry in ya bag

14:22 Totally The Golden Rule! Left my phone on the roof of the car on the way to a race last week. Realised after 8 miles driving in the pi**ing rain through hill and dale. Went out to check - fearing the worst...It had slid off the roof and wedged itself in the rear wiper. Save! Loving your work man. Inspirational, truly.

THAT is what I'm talking about! I could probably live without the foliage, but as far as trail that I enjoy...that's it. Starting at around the 10 minute mark down...YESSIR, I'D LIKE TWO PLEASE! Chunk, and critical line choice where you're making line decisions every second. I LOVE that style of riding!
@bkxc7 жыл бұрын
Haha yeah man, I absolutely love that stuff. Something about the craziness and the way the bikes move.

I don't want to be that other guy giving you crap about riding a broken frame. Hell I've done it on over 10 bikes 😂 but just be aware. If your bike fails on the Chainstay, you are walking out from wherever you are. Once that cracks, the seatstay will snap and then possibly the other side. You could get a major catastrophic failure and you won't be able to ride the bike out. I've done the same thing in Bend, OR on an Intense Carbine 29. So I wouldn't ride crazy far from a point of rescue. Just don't want you to be fucked! But anyways, Amazing Ride Brian! Wish I could go back and shred those trails😍
@bkxc7 жыл бұрын
Yes, it's definitely a gamble. The crack is very minor, but the frame is definitely compromised for the NEXT big hit. I appreciate the true life advice instead of "You're crazy"
@icecreamtrucker64007 жыл бұрын
Perhaps you can just replace the swingarm/rear triangle Brian? That would cost significantly less than a whole new frame.
@B1KER7 жыл бұрын
I would think it should be covered by warranty. Maybe call ahead to a shop in a city you are heading to, to get them to order the new swing arm. Then just swap it out when you get there.
@icecreamtrucker64007 жыл бұрын
B1KER, pretty sure it's not covered under warranty as it was caused by a crash. However, I'm sure he could pick up a "crash replacement" swingarm for somewhere in the neighborhood of 25% off.
@TonyMannyGallo7 жыл бұрын
Jeez I also had my Santa Cruz 5010 chainstay compromised when riding in Bend, OR in the same exact spot as Brian... damn lava rock strike that I don't even remember hearing.

Tears, tears in my eyes man! Thanks for posting this. Years ago I had the pleasure of riding this area about twice a year. I have just dug my old Santa Cruz out and started riding again before i found these vids and they are certainly a little bit of inspiration to get my fat arse off the sofa and start riding again. Thanks for the vids.........know what i will be watching for the next few evenings.

Some cracks are more/less major than others. The bronson has a super minimal paint job, but sometimes the carbon flex can cause the paint to crack and its possible that your carbon may not actually be cracked. The best way to test this is get some black nail polish and put a dab of it on the crack. If the nail polish cracks it is revealing that there is movement in the carbon crack and you should probably get a new chainstay, but if the polish doesn't crack it means you can keep riding for a while. Like Alex pointed out below though, you are still going to be risking it for the "next big one" either way you go.
@bkxc7 жыл бұрын
Interesting tip! I think it's a real deal crack, but about the best possible place to crack!
@MateuszPlewicki7 жыл бұрын

Wow. That was awesome! I live in PA and have heard a lot about Pilot Rock. I've been waiting for a good video and want to go check it out. If you liked Pisgah, you would love Michaux State Forest. Backcountry and with just as much rock, it makes for a taxing, but epic ride. Maybe not on this East Coast trip, but on the next you should come check it out. I would also recommend Rothrock State Forest near State College, PA, Harrisonburg, VA, Kingdom Trails, VT, Perry Hill, VT, and Davis, WV.
