I bought very similar socs in the late 80's while living in Namibia. It works well for storage, but if you leave it on your rod outside the vehicle while traveling, especially on dust road, you are in for a hiding.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Dust roads and reels don't go together well, would definitely keep them inside while driving along dusty roads. Also don't pack reels away in storage if they're wet, let them dry thoroughly first them put them in your Dropsoc. Tight lines!
