You remember the old boyseen reeds wanted you to remove the stock stops. wonder if they did that to stress and sell more reeds? Are you using the bottle of Lucas for assembly lube for bearings?
@jetskijim007
@jetskijim007 Жыл бұрын
Yes! Very good eye, I love Lucas oil!!! I do remember boyseen doing that, but in reality, when I bend my stops, they rub the intake, so removing them would definitely give you a little bit more, but i like you are saying, I like giving them a profile to ride against so they last longer. :-)

You can also fill the engine with water if you run it on your garden hose and turn the water on first. Engine needs to be on before the water. Also need to shut the water off and then stop the engine. Towing a ski not running faster than 5 mph can back flow the exhaust and fill the engine with water. If you ever suspect the engine has water and you have removed the factory drain you can pull the plugs and crank it over. Anytime you get water inside the engine you want to get it running again so you dry it out. Water in the engine rusts the crank bearings and your engine won't last long with rusty / pitted bearings.

If the ski has a lanyard, hit the start button with the lanyard off so it will crank over but not have spark. Which can damage the cdi. Otherwise ground the plugs by touching them to metal any time you crank it with the plugs out.

2:35 Running a motor with a beat up head doesn't show how resilient it is. I've seen much worse that ran with no noticeable effects, but I would knock down any sharp points to reduce the chance of a hot spot leading to detonation.

Most people think the head is toast if it has some damage. Like you said it rarely makes much difference but it's a good idea to knock down the points.

Absolutely! Current actually, To be posted in the future for sure! The Toyota Is Jettrim Founder Gary Hart's original Toyota 4x4, currently owned by Bullett Racing. I was fortunate enough to be tasked with the honor of rebuilding the engine, and bringing it back to roadworthy condition. The Cobra running gear is going into a fox body (future project for sure)....

@@jetskijim007 In 1993 Gary Hart custom made me and gave me a Go-Ped deck mat while I watched on one of the nights during the World Finals when everyone came down to his shop and watched us rip our modded Go-Peds around his parking lot. Go-Peds were still a pretty new thing to this crowd at the times and I don't think anyone had ever seen them modified to the extent we had them there (liquid cooled, nitrous, etc, expansion chambers, strokers, etc). It was an exciting time for us as well as for the JetSki industry as a whole back in those days. We were there representing the Go-Ped factory and they were becoming quite popular with the Jet Ski crowd. Many, many good memories from those days. I also raced JetSkis as that was my other main hobby and won Novice 550 Limited class that year as well! Chris Fischetti allowed us to come to his house and his father "pops" even leant a hand to help me get ready. Magical, all around....

I once drowned my Ossa 250 motorcycle while competing in an enduro race in the 70s. After draining the carby bowl and the ignition cover I removed the plug with the bike upside down and pumped the kick start. What amazed me was how much effort it took to get the last of the water out of the thing. Drops of water kept shorting the plug. took 20 minutes to get going. Luckily I haven't managed to drown my SRX 800 yet.

no, but I recommend them for any other ski. The 650 has the smallest reeds ever used, they don't need to be made any smaller. Thank you for watching. :-)

I can see that… I was building boats with Rockfish boats. The first two were two strokes. I really liked them, but customers want 300hp over light weight. I was an RD350 guy a hundred years ago, and when I raced motocross in the 70s Kawasaki came through and invited some of us to go check out the then brand new JetSki. The very first ones were a little doggy, making them a little harder to get up on 550 came out… Wow. Digging your channel
