Drowning Pool debuted in 2001 w/ the album 'Sinner'... so they shared a similar 'feel' to bands of that era like Slipknot... as well as bands like Disturbed... Mudvayne ... Soil ... Chimaira ... Drain STH ... ill Nino ... Kittie ... etc.

it´s a shame that the frontman Dave Williams died 22 years ago!! because he was starting his career !!!! that first album was one of the best albums of Drowning Pool, you must try that song at the gym 😎

I'm from Dallas & was lucky to see them a few times before they blew up in 2001. I saw them for the last time with Dave, New Year's going into 2002 with Sevendust & a no name band called Gasoline. When Gasoline came out to perform everyone was shocked. It was Dime, Vinnie & Rex from Pantera & those guys absolutely killed it!

When the front man died they asked one of my best friends in highschool to be the lead singer he is currently drowning pool lead vocalists we grew up in small town indiana with his brother he also splits time as his first main band called Soil as their lead singer also. Soil had an MTV mega hit headbangers ball chart topper called ‘HALO’ has millions of views for a reason his voice makes u feel like u can tear down walls. u listen to that song do a reaction i promise u will lose ur sh*t and it will instantly energize ur gym workouts! Its a classic for metal fans! I brought the band (Drowning Pool) down to play at ft Campbell ky for the troops one time after we returned from Afghanistan, my platoon loved it!😂

I saw them way back in 2002 on the Jagermeister Tour....just months before Dave passed. They headlined the show...but Coal Chamber was really good too. I had an access ticket for the Meet-n-Greet. C.J., Drowning Pool guitarist, was pretty cool and he talked with me for a good bit of the time.

This was Drowning Pool's biggest hit from 2001 - their debut album 'Sinner'... Tragically, it was the only album recorded w/ Dave Williams (vocals)... he died on tour in 2002 from an undiagnosed heart condition at age 30 (R.I.P.) ...He was a huge fan and supporter of the rock/ metal scene and it was a huge loss... Drowning Pool recruited new singers but never regained their commercial popularity. Drowning Pool was formed in Texas in the 90's by C.J. Pierce (guitar), Stevie Benton (bass) and Mike Luce (drums) w/ vocalist Dave Williams joining by 1999... the members were friend w/ the members of Pantera, also a Texas band. Their 2001 debut album 'Sinner' sold platinum (1 million copies) in the US w/ the single 'Bodies'... just before the 9/11 attacks hit America and reduced the album's momentum... Other singles were 'Tear away'... 'Sinner'... After the untimely passing of singer Dave Williams in 2002, Drowning Pool hired vocalist Jason 'Gong' Jones in 2004 for the album 'Desensitized'... which had the songs - 'Step up' ... 'Forget'... but the band parted ways w/ Jones soon after. Ryan McCombs (vocalist of the band Soil) joined Drowning Pool for 2 albums - 'Full Circle' (2007)... and 'Drowning Pool' (2010)... scoring some successful singles - 'Enemy' ... '37 Stitches'... 'Feel like I do'... before he decided to leave as well in 2011 to rejoin Soil. Jasen Moreno (vocals) joined Drowning Pool to record 3 albums - 'Resilience' (2013)... 'Hellelujah' (2016)...and 'Strike a nerve' (2022)... Songs from his era - 'By the blood'... 'In memory of'... 'Hell to pay'... 'Mind right'... Recently, vocalist Ryan McCombs announced that he was rejoining Drowning Pool after the departure of Jasen Moreno and they are working on new music for 2025.

@@julesroulette9447 No he didn't. U got it wrong. There were no drugs found in his toxicology... The coroner discovered that he had an undiagnosed heart condition. FACT. That was Dave Williams' cause of death.

Loving the trip down the 2000s metal track, a lot of these bands are where I started my love for metal as well. I'm sure you'll eventually get to some of the more well known bands most reactors do like Tool but for now it's fun to see some of these the don't always get a lot of love. A couple I think you'll really enjoy from this general era would be Nonpoint - Bullet With a Name and Sevendust - Bitch. Both of these bands have been putting out solid music for 10+ years and don't get the love they should. Another band I feel you'd definitely enjoy would be Northlane. One of my favorite tracks from them right now is Obsidian. More along the lines of your request for some modern-day Heavy Hitters I'd recommend Spiritbox - Rule of Nines. This one is actually fun to watch with their live take kzbin.info/www/bejne/rIeniYd8mqyMrcUsi=AHfNlqjq6Asra5lx Tetrarch - Freak, saw them open up for In This Moment I believe and they were great live. DeD - Anti Everything (has some metal-rap elements) or Dead to Me (more straight forward metal). Learnd about them when they opened for Korn and killed it. I could go on forever, but I hope you'll have the opportunity to hear all of these at some point!

Every 1 and their phuckin' mothers used to cover this song, and yeaaa I saw ur reaction to the first vocal, surprising if you don't know it's coming! But yea this was more of an anthem of the day in many regards...sorry tho, the guitarist is NOTHING like Kirk Hammett from Metallica haha...Anywho if you like heavier bands how about one with a female screamo vocalist ( Allisa White-Gluz is a freakin' BEAST who sings growls and clean vocals)...ANY ARCH ENEMY SONG will do...They are definitely more technical, my style musically more so than drowning pool...they span many decades with another lead singer Angela Glasgow that was before her. Their newest single 'Liars and Thieves' just came out about 9 days ago, altho not my favorite song by them still a banger (There's your new metal you asked for) React to them and welcome to the World of Melodic Death Metal Mia. 🖤🖤🖤

Late 90's-early 00's nu metal was the peak of fashion. Not specifically in metal, peak of any fashion in general... Listen to their song "Sinner" next from them. Some other catchy metal songs from that era are Papa Roach - "Last Resort", Rob Zombie - "Dragula", Fear Factory - "Edgecrusher", Limp Bizkit - "Nookie", Saliva - "Click Click Boom" and Linkin Park - "One Step Closer". These are pretty good gateway songs that are easy to get into.

There definitely are bands in this vein of music nowadays but heavy music (or at least as heavy as it could get in the mainstream) is nowhere near as mainstream as it once was. This is classic "nu metal", so bands I'd recommend of the past few years that have this sort of sound are early Ocean Grove (def check out "Intimate Alien" and "Lights On Kind of Lover"), Cane Hill, DED, Heathensun, Mad Kelly (esp "Everybody's Enemy"), My Enemies & I, Tallah (maybe a bit crazy but worth a listen), new Trash Boat (esp "Filthy/Righteous").

Yes I get the comparison, slipknot is at times too heavy. But you don't want something too soft, trying to find that middle ground. And you probably find the band, grew up listening to different music. So influences from say Metallica is bound to occur, I feel like they've been inspiring rock for a lot of years. Great thoughts and video, liked it a lot.
