Sir, I have one question. If conduction can only happen through solids, then how does water conduct electricity? I know here by conduction you mean transfer of heat energy, but can't heat transfer through water? Or is it that heat can be transferred through water ONLY by convection? Thank you.

Well there will be some element of conduction through water but the main way in which heat travels through fluids is by convection.

Regarding how"black" & "white" objects react differently with IR energy: What does "black" and "white" mean at infra red wave lengths?
@DrPhysicsA
@DrPhysicsA 10 жыл бұрын
It still means the same as ordinary usage. It just means that dark coloured objects absorb infrared more easily than light coloured objects.

You say that the plasma is when the temperature is so high that electrons are driven off the atom but a moment later you say that plasma is a combination of positively charged particles and negative.
@AqilAhamed
@AqilAhamed 4 жыл бұрын
Negatively charged particles are electrons and positively charged are protons. So plasma is a mixture of protons and electrons NOT atoms. Atoms are electrons orbiting around a nucleus held together by a force. So if the force is overcome by extreme heat, these electrons will be released from the atomic structure thus forming plasma. Hope this answered your doubt :)

"Hot-ness" - haha, couldn't you have used 'heat' ?
@AqilAhamed
@AqilAhamed 4 жыл бұрын
Hotness is not the same as heat. Hotness is how much heat an obect possesses. Thus essentially he is refering to temperature and not heat. He uses the word 'hotness' to make it easier to understand the term temperature. Hope this answers your doubt :)
