A MAJOR one is.... don't rely on the spf in makeup alone! I've heard SO many people say, "my makeup has a natural spf 15 in it." This is especially bad since I'm in Arizona. Most people don't apply a thick enough layer of that makeup to hit the spf number, and many people only "spot apply" the makeup.

Thanks for sharing I love your videos what are your thoughts about powder sunscreen for reapplication?
@DrSamBunting Жыл бұрын
Hmm. Not a fan - you need so much to get decent protection. Better to try to work with a new layer of correctly dosed cream or lotion SPF.

The little applicators for cushion bb cream work very well to reapply sunscreen over makeup! They're cheap and easily available.

Hey Dr Sam.... Great Video..... I'm a sun-screen obsessive...Firstly my vit-c serum and then I use a 1/4tsp - spoon to measure out the quantity of my spf50. 1/4tsp for face and 1/4tsp for neck and this is/has been my daily routine as I go about my day-to-day activities. I never sunbathe! :)

Excellent video! So, we know how much to apply to the face (a quarter teaspoon), but how much should we apply to.each arm, or leg? Could you give us an approximation? 💖
@understone86 Жыл бұрын
I don't know the answer for this but... Even in Asia it's more common to cover up aka wearing loose long sleeves or sun protective arm covers. Overall more economical and safer.
@kendallstark4302 Жыл бұрын
@@understone86 that's a good alternative, but the heat is rather oppressive where I live, and most days I prefer wearing short sleeved t-shirts and shorts. I'll look up the dose online 😊

We should use a minimum of 30ml (or 6 teaspoons) - so 5ml per limb, 5ml for the front torso and 5ml for the back.

I know you have answered the mixing sunscreen comments below but what about mixing 2 mineral sunscreens (same brand) that have similar ingredients? I mix an untinted 30 spf with a tinted 50 spf from Madara. Or should I apply the untinted first, wait, then apply the tinted on top? Thanks Dr.

I'd like to know too. I'm currently using an SPF 50 and then a tinted SPF 30.

SPF... my favourite topic, specially after the BOJ sunscreen ! 😍😍
@karenmariewagstaff5746 Жыл бұрын
Yes but BoJ is an everyday sunscreen not one for prolonged sun exposure or outdoor activities.
@s_shaleh Жыл бұрын
@@karenmariewagstaff5746 Ummm.. so? Dr Sam didn't mention anything about sports and outdoor activities. She was just talking about sunscreens in general. Nothing wrong with the BOJ on a day to day basis. Since you already know that it isn't water-resistant, then just find a water-resistant one if you know that you're going to the beach or doing outdoor sporting activities.
@karenmariewagstaff5746 Жыл бұрын
@@s_shaleh actually quite important if you want to prevent sun damage. It’s a great sunscreen but disintegrates quite quickly under sweat or high UV exposure. That’s why it’s so light weight and washes of easily. The regulation for sunscreens in Korea is different to the UK where sunscreens are generally more resistant ( and thicker and probably don’t feel as nice) .

If I'm using a tinted mineral sunscreen... And I'm just going to work at my desk, in air conditioning, why do I have to reapply my sunscreen? I can still see the sunscreen on my face, so isn't the active ingredient still there?
