Sir it's a very good and interesting case, beautifully explained. We had an exactly similar case of carotid occlusion just after post stenting angioplasty. We thought of thrombosis, try to aspirate but no improvement, finally we removed the filter and found a whitish clot trapped inside the filter. Thank you for sharing sir.

Sir how do we decide on the size of balloon post plasty? Can it exceed the diameter of the normal ICA segment?

Thank you Dr. Tanya, I think the maximum diamter of the available (monorail) coronary balloon is 4.5 mm. In general normal cervical ICA dia is 4 to 5 mm. Post dilatation with 4 or 4.5 mm dia balloon should be fine in most cases. We should not overinflate. Angiographic perfection is not the goal.

Hi Doc , May father is in new delhi India , Doctor asked him to do carotid stenting and they asking for 5 to 7 lakh for that ,but we belong to meduim class family cant afford that much. Can you please help us in this case Thanks

Stent cost 55 000 and filter cost 80000 plus carotid angioplasty charges.we can do it in 4 lakhs
