I used for 8 years and lost very nearly everything and 100% what kept me using was the horrible withdrawal. And I kept putting myself thru it, trying to stop on my own because I didn't want to ask for help from my family and I kept telling myself that the pain is what I deserved for being a junkie. And with that mindset I kept failing and I kept using. It wasn't until I decided that I deserved better and I found a medically assisted treatment program that I was able to get clean. Been clean almost 4 years now and I'm so proud of myself!

This reminds me of my wife and myself. Very similar story, and same drugs. We both got clean June 17th 2011. We went to separate in patient treatment centers to get us through the first month, and have both been in a 12 step fellowship since. Haven’t found a reason to use yet. Amazing life nowadays. I went to high school with Bandit, his birth name is Tony, used to skateboard, listen to punk records with him back then. She just carjacked a Susuki while a Mom was pumping gas and her 2 year old was in the back here in York, PA this Sunday. Amber alerts went off as she was heading to Kensington in Philadelphia to get high and left the little girl in the hot vehicle. Police are still looking for her! She was kicked out of rehab after her family checked her in that same morning and went to a gas station where she carjacked the vehicle where there was a baby inside. She literally needs to be in prison and get serious help!!!

This is a co-depenecy...no matter how they try to spin it. The fact they are so casual about the wrong they do and how they hurt each other is a pure example of that. I hope and pray they both find it in within themselves and truly want to get clean, because until then they will stay in the cycle they are in. Everyone experiences pain/trauma in life but turning to drugs only traps you that much more because now your trapped with the drugs on top of the pain and trauma.

I agree. A lot of folks take people with addiction wrong. If they examined their own behavior and the practices of the businesses they support, they would see we’re a lot more alike than different. Some people are judging this couple for being “nonchalant,” but this IS their day to day. It’s better to be able to cope with it than let it floor you every day. That shows they have the resilience to get out, as well.

If you use either methadone or suboxone the right way, ( Honey said she was on both at the same time? ? Yeah, this blew me away too. Even when I was at the stage in my addiction where I could still romanticize it and it was still sort of enjoying the drugs, I def wished I never tried them. Once shit got dark for me (like it pretty clearly has for them), I would have done anything to change it. And I managed to remain functional. Like, I always managed to support my habit without theft and always had housing, etc. but man it was soooo AWFUL. I guess that desperation (along with MAT) is ultimately what enabled me to get clean and i am SO grateful every day. I feel like she may have answered this question (and others) differently if she had been interviewed alone.

Man not only being addicted but the trauma I experienced from my drug use I still deal with to this day. The severe paranoia and anxiety that it exposed me to its like it opened it up in my brain. It made me insecure about my looks when I used to be so confident and I am not like a super ugly person but it made me look terrible and feel that I was. Then boom ten years had went by. I was just a innocent little kid then it's a decade later and I had been through hell and back. It's sad man it is crazy. It's a crazy life to experience. Anyone doing it now try and stop before ten years goes by. Putting off emotions for ten years and then trying to quit and having to deal with it all at once is the most intense and overwhelming feeling in the world. It is so hard that some people never manage to be able to even do it.

The 1 year follow up interview for these two is going to be *brutal*. I realize it's very common to try to make light of a fucked up life, because it's "you can either laugh about it cry about it". But the man especially seems to see Fent addiction as a crazy stage of his life he can tell about when he's older and it all settles itself out. Truth is he'll likely be beaten or killed for his casual thieving, or the Fent there that's now blended with Tranq is going to start melting his body parts off.

@@shawnaconley347 she wasn't pumping gas. The mother literally left her 2 year old in the car, with it running, right next to a PRISON, an ICE detention center, a youth detention center, 2 rehabs and a methadone clinic, while she went inside. What Honey did was absolutely wrong and I couldn't imagine the worry that family had, but that's why you don't leave your baby in a car alone.

There is something strange about people who choose hard drug addiction out of curiosity and fun. "Exploring". That is addiction out of privilege. Same with the face tattoo... if she's spent a minute in skid row, she would realise girls there are forced to get their pimps name tattooed in the same spot, not because it was cool. Choosing this lifestyle because it's 'interesting' and 'cool', is just a bit strange compared to people who have very little choice and have struggled hard since day one.

Kills me on the comments how everyone on this channel is always praising these people like oh you're so brave you're so strong you can do it, but the people that are putting those comments on there are usually people that have had sheltered lives and almost feel guilty for having such a safe existence in an upper middle class upbringing and things like that, I grew up in a very working-class family that put a stress on pulling your own weight so I think if people want to feel good about themselves go find a single mom that's working 60 hours a week and throw some money at her so she can take a shift off to hang out with her kids because there's plenty of that going around, family in the US is totally crumbling more people than not are single mothers, that's what I respect not some scumbag that sits around shooting Chinese made fentanyl into their arm, taking things from working people and destroying a neighborhood in a city because at the bottom line they're just selfish hedonist and it's as simple as that

@@joesmith4251 I hear what you are saying thanks for sharing your POV. Alot of people view addiction as selfish, and it is because it can consume the person while in active addiction. Peoples behaviours and life choices while they are in the grip of something leaves society incredibly frustrated and judgemental. It can be hard to sympathise with things we don't fully understand. I come from a family of addicts, some are dead some are still active. It's easy to look at an addict and not understand their choices or reasons. We do need empathy and understanding in this world but, ultimately I do know that an addict can only truly save themselves. Pretty much on point. I wish though the United States would allow treatment with iboga and or ibogain. Look it up. It's a tryptamine, which is a class of psychedelics. In simple terms it cleans(fries) the receptors and craving centers of the brain, in 24 hours. From what I've seen it's not very pleasant, and not a substance one would want to do recreationally, like say experimenting with Cid or shrooms. But after the 24 hour trip, they no longer have the physical withdrawal symptoms. Of course all the mental aspects are still there, but that's where decent counseling would come into play. Life habits and such. From what I have gathered, the US doesn't want to implement it due to cheaper alternatives (methadone and buprenorphine). In my opinion I think it could be a great tool. Psilocybin, mescaline and mdma as well. Tihkal is a great read, and discusses psychotherapy using them. Apologizes on the rant! 🍻

I just watched videos about it on 'Joe The Street Preacher' KZbin channel. He just happened to be around the corner when the police found the baby, because she had taken off running, and left the baby there after the people banging the window woke her up when they opened the car door. The police knew who they were looking for, I guess from the gas station cameras, and they captured her two weeks later. I find their attitudes infuriating. They admit to stealing and con-ing people and complain about being judged. My neighborhood has been invaded by people like this, young able bodied drug addicts who rob, trash and destroy. We have lost our grocery store and several other businesses to theft making it unprofitable. We have single moms harassed, had their baby strollers and car seats smash and grabbed. Elderly vet had his specialized wheelchair/bike device stolen. Even our pets aren’t safe. Drug addicts living on the streets are destroying entire cities and they complain they don’t get enough free stuff. Our taxes pay to support them and free needles and they complain it’s not enough. I’m disabled and live with elderly mother but we have no rights, can’t even walk down the street because it’s covered with tents. Drug addicts have literally invaded and attacked our city and my neighborhood in particular. Law abiding people who contribute to society in positive ways, kids, elderly, Disabled are the ones who are suffering, the ones who these addicts are ripping off. I’ve had plenty of trauma but I choose to be clean and sober and treat others with respect. I’m sick and tired of being told I need to be more compassionate, where is compassion from these two toward anyone but the selves? Stop giving them free needles to perpetuate the misery!

Update for everyone... I dont know this girl personally but this was on news around my area. She stole a vehicle in York PA after leaving a rehab and there was a 2 year old baby girl inside the car. Once you see there's a child in the car you could choose the do the right thing and abandon the vehicle close to where you took it from. Not this girl. She continued to drive about 2 hours back to Kensington. An amber alert went out for this child which hits everyone's cell phones all over the surrounding counties. She was found slumped over the steering wheel in Kensington. The neighborhood drug dealers could hear the baby crying and approached the vehicle. Even they have better morals than this girl. They started arguing with her and she ran. Just left the 2 year old there alone in that car in a strange place with total strangers. They caught her. She is in jail with lots of charges including kidnapping. She deserves them all. This chick may put on a sweetheart act in this video but beware of the pitty parties addicts create for themselves. She is a theif, a criminal, and now a kidnapper. Smh

@@mynameisname8115 yes that's where I heard also. The same exact situation happened like over a month ago except with a dog in the car. I live in Coatesville which is half way between Philly and York PA. There were "lost dog" posts all over Facebook for my local area. Same exact story... someone from rehab stole a car in York and drove to Kensington with a dog in the car. Last news I heard about that one is the driver got caught but was saying there was never any dog. Probably threw it out on the side of the street somewhere. That baby girls story could have been so much worse. So glad this chick got caught.

Narcissist moms truly fkk kids up on such a fundamental level. I relate to the, "my mom, psssh, full blown narcissist, like really bad" sentiment. Like it's hard to explain how deeply the trauma and trauma bonding, the dynamic, the absolutely unforgivable things they say when they're mad, the frigid ice block where their heart should be making you think you don't deserve any love because if you did then your mom would love you, hurts. So damaging. Like I enjoy getting tattoos and stuff because it's a more tangible and welcome pain. Sort of cathartic.* I just saw in the comments that he had an OD and was found in his home. I have lost... At least 30 people, half of whom I truly cared about, to ODs. My boyfriend from 11th grade up to cousins and on and on. He actually reminds me of the old boyfriend who was found dead a few months after he found our other friend dead. It's just endless pain for some people. Being so damaged and broken on such a foundational level, especially really early in life, pretty much means you'll never truly be ok. Like my mom started resenting me as a newborn baby. She was jealous of how her mom and my dad treated me. My PTSD predates the formation of my personality. Like the favourite. I'm certainly not my mom's favorite. I told her not long ago that while she's been around and stuff my whole life, I have never experienced what it's like to have a mom and feel a mother's love. She tried to deny it, so I asked her, when was the last time you asked me anything about myself or my life? How are things? How's work? Anything? Of course she couldn't answer. The answer is likely 20 years ago. She doesn't give a fkk about anyone. She was storming off in anger one time, and her granddaughter was standing by the door with her arms up, and my mom just looked at her and walked out the door. She saw it. That hurt. Reminded me way too much of my childhood.

Me too,I call it her "daily dig" telling me I was given every opportunity but have failed massively in life. All I remember is being criticised for everything I did. An example I had done something naughty in her eyes (probably normal child behaviour) and she told me that if I told the truth I wouldn't get into trouble so I told her the truth and she got the leather slipper out and spanked me so I now trust nobody. I'm also adopted so that's her go to that my issues are from my genetics but my brothers also adopted and an alcoholic. I have 4 years clean from opiates and benzos but I still struggle with cocaine. I brought my son up in the exact opposite was to which I was raised and he's a well rounded, successful young man. I began my opiate abuse after he left home but always took party drugs but never around him. My mother could not tell you one good thing about me but she makes sure to tell everyone about her addict daughter and how hard it is for her.

Its tempting to be taken in by their positive attitudes and well-put together sentences, but its striking to me that his biggest fear is his children ending up like him... and he can contrast that with saying he wouldn't change a thing about his life, any decision he's made, or what they're doing right now. If things are so wonderful and positive and excellent, surely he'd want the same thing for his children...? I think it can be difficult to confront the hardest parts of ourselves, and to cover it with humor and smiles is more a show for others versus yourself. A good guiding principle is if it is unacceptable treatment and lifestyle for those you love the most (your children) it should be unacceptable for you. You are deserving of the same quality of life you expect for others you love, understanding this is the first step towards learning to love yourself.

I honestly don't understand people addicted to opioids that just overlook methadone treatment. As if cold turkey is the only answer. They can get on methadone which alleviates the pain and cravings. It would be good if Mark would suggest it. When I was in the throws of opioid addiction, it was some homeless guy who mentioned it to me and saved my life because I didn't realize it was an option.

"Someone I know" was a functioning opiate addict for a few years. They had a family to financially support, so disappearing into a rehab was not an option. They found methadone maintenance, rocked that daily for a year or so to help develop changes in behavior, and ultimately ended up on Suboxone. They're still on a small daily dose of Suboxone, but they have been clean from elicit substances since the methadone days. Life has been great for them and I'm happy to have not ended up a statistic. Oops, I meant them.
