I just discovered your channel yesterday. I am a new RN, and about to start my new Nursing dream job in CVICU. The way you explain how these meds works in the body is very important. I like to know all the WHY I am doing what I am doing/ what I can watch for if something goes wrong. In school they teach us oh this medication is Calcium channel blocker but they do not explain how that medication works on cellular level! Thank you for making these videos!

my husband was just prescribed this medication in tablet form and is on his way to the pharmacy to pick it up right now. he already has pulmonary fibrosis diagnosed 1 1/2 years ago. Should we expect the existing pulmonary fibrosis get worse on this medication? If so, is there anything that you can recommend to minimize the pulmonary fibrosis worsening on this medication? thank you

How can it be class III when it works on Na, beta and ca too?
@DrugChug3 жыл бұрын
It has most of its effects on potassium channels, thats why it is listed to class III. But still retains effects on other channels/receptors to a slightly lesser extent. Class 3 is the best placement for amiodarone

I take 200 mg of this drug for nearly 2 years. for bigeminy. I have lost 8 kgs. to now weigh 51 kg. I have develpoped hypothyroid, and blurry eyes, possibly cataract. Any reason for weight loss , inspite of normal food intake? My wife also takes this medicine for 20 years, but for WPW syndrome , She has drastically reduced to 35 kg.. from 49 kg, I wish , she and I have gone for ablation, but my doctor brother frighrened me in 2004, that this was a dangerous procedure in India.

My husband died from amiodarone; he developed pulmonary fibrosis. It kills! Therefore, it should not exist! Now our young children have to go without... 😢 .
@reznomix56782 жыл бұрын
my age 29 years old ppm implanted is this true? Dr. give me amiodarone for 15 days use is this a real killer tablet?
@Smughyorita2 жыл бұрын
I think such medication only mostly kills the elderly and maybe the super young whose body will have trouble adjusting to its potent effect. The 200mg was the dosage that led to the irreversible damage to lungs of my husband. So if you're worried, you might want to seek second opinion.
@reznomix56782 жыл бұрын
whats the second opinion?
@reznomix56782 жыл бұрын
I haven't started yet, I have a pacemaker DDDR.
@Smughyorita2 жыл бұрын
@@reznomix5678 A second opinion is about seeing another doctor who might have a better idea or knows more about the medication you're taking. A new doctor that maybe can help prevent a disaster in your life when taking a deadly medicine.

Good stuff...However, so.eone in V fib isnt going to take medication orally. Since this rhythm does not produce palpable pulses and you need to be defibrillated from the rhythm before given a 300mg iv dose, followed by another 150mg iv dose if they are still refractory. Then you worry about maintenance doses in hospital. Lol
