What a great interview with these absolute legends. I was one of the privileged regulars. Like GQ said in the interview we were spoilt with the music. The amount of dubplates and new music coming out continuously was incredible. What comes across in the interview is the family vibe. It really felt like that. Everything just worked at AWOL Paradise Club. And that sound system......I'll be banging on about AWOL till the day I die. Special times. Very lucky to have been around to witness it all. Big ups AWOL crew.

The tape packs were serious man, they really did change lives. Used to rock the One Nation tapes when I was 13...14... hand them around school. Used to listen to it until it broke on the walkman every day. GQ, Fearless, Skiba, DET, Shabba, all big influences on me musically. When I was 13 I went on a pirate radio station MCing and it really did change my life and confidence. Mad shit trust me.

If i remember rightly, they used to drop the price after 3am.. drove up from Stratford, parking nearby - banged tunes & burned heads in the 106 until the price drop lol Brock out, shock out till we stumbled out into the burning afternoon sunlight smirking and avoiding the disapproving stares of the 'normal' market shoppers wondering 'who are these dirty stopouts? loool 😂
