I recently purchased a Black Swamp concert snare drum, and decided to add a new case to the order. The sales representative at Steve Weiss checked what they had in stock, and even though it was quite expensive, I went with a SKB case. This case is essentially a Pelican case for a drum, with a hard rectangular shell, excellent padding inside, and is practically bulletproof, in addition to being totally waterproof.

All cases need a little more padding but the handles could always be reinforced. Great Advice Sir!🎶

Been using Protector cases for 35 years. Roto molded and they take a beating. But they take up lots of packing room. I also use Beato soft cases which i order custom in size. Great soft cases. Also made in USA.

Great informative video! Thanks! Would be very helpful to see how you rivet one of those metal handles on a plastic case.

I've got this vintage fiber roll around trap case from the mid seventies. It has a pull out tray in the top and below it there's a section for cymbals and one for sticks and then one for a snare drum or a tom. You've probably seen them and remember them Rick, man that thing is tough as nails.

Hi David Yes, I have a few of those, both large and small. I don't use them anymore since the modern carts are so good. I will show one in a future video as it is from the 60's and pretty cool.

Hey Rick, I ordered a Pearl Philharmonic 4x14 8 Ply Maple Snare but I never got a case like you mentioned when it came in. I ordered it this September. Could you explain that?
@rickdiorКүн бұрын
Hi Sam Why don't you call the company that you bought it from and ask them? Maybe Pearl has stopped including them with the drums.

Will do. Thank you and have a Merry Christmas!

I like the foot print mark in the black Protector case.

Lol, I didn't notice that. One of my kids most likely from 20 years ago.

Do you get Protection Racket (UK) cases in the US? Excellent gigging cases, strong, lightweight, good padding. The "AAA" cases are semi rigid, bombproof. PR also make custom cases including guitar and amp covers. I keep my Bob Schuh snare in a AAA. Only downside is they do roll. If you get them in the States snap them up. They are the Goto cases in the UK / EU.

I swear by the protection racket cases. Both the AAA and their ordinary ones.

Thanks Rick, this is a great topic as we all need good cases. I have to mention that the Humes & Berg Enduro cases all got a new super solid metal handle years ago and also a great new lining they call "pro lining". It's a lining that will never tear. Also regarding the slippery problem with plastic cases, Humes & Berg offer the best drum cases on the marked, the Enduro Pro, those have a melted in stacking lock feature. Highly recommend those for hard case use.
@rickdiorКүн бұрын
Thanks, those are great but very expensive. One of the points of the video was to show how you can take older cases you already might own or purchase used and improve them so they function as well as brand new cases.
@johannhjorleifssonКүн бұрын
@@rickdior You offer great tips there for doing so. This joga mattress material looks to be the perfect drum case lining. Need to try that for some older cases I have. I look forward to see the hardware case video. Thanks for all the great material you offer on your channel, it really is super interesting and helpful.
