Was the youngest member of the tribute enesemble in rochester. It was an honour to perform for him and to play some of his music the following night along with the cabs alumni.

Bummed I didn’t see Magic of Orlando 1999 - “The Magic of Mangione”. My 2nd year marching. It was a fun show. And a lot of us got to meet him when he met up with us on tour and we did a stand-still for him.

George also wrote and taught the drill for the 1983 Alliance of Greater Boston. The Corp just finished out of the finals at the Orange Bowl. It was truly a pleasure to have known George. A Genius that walked among us. 40 years later at the end of the video, George is still teaching us. RIP George. You have been missed.

Between Chuck and Chick (Corea), drum corps owes a huge debt of gratitude for the music they created. There were many others as well, like Don Ellis, but these 2 really put some great stuff out for drum corps to put on the field.

Legend of the One-Eyed Sailor! We played that in high school in 1989 and that when I was introduced to Chuck’s music. I was fortunate to go one of his concerts not long after that! Glad he was honored! Do it up Devils!!

I've loved Chuck Mangione and to flash back to the 1970s DCI competition with his music. Yes, Bellavia has been a long-time favorite go to even in 2023. 😊❤

Played "Land of Make Believe" at my senior night in 1981 on a Getzen Eterna Flugelhorn. There is a picture of me in my high school annual playing it. The caption says I am playing... a trombone...

We played Feels so good my first year marching. I won a best musician award in jazz band for my bass guitar solo playing the 11th commandment. I got to meet Chuck my Senior year in high school. He and Chris were incredible horn players.

I recognize that first recording anywhere - Reading Buccaneers (‘79 I think?) with George Parks as drum major! Sad there was no video, but thankful it was included.

Great tribute! I remember taping the PBS broadcast of the '83 Finals to VHS. I discovered drum corps around '80 via PBS, went to my first show in '82, so it was still fairly new to me during my H.S. years. I love Chuck's music, and 'Feel So Good' was a frequent concert cover by a jazz group I was in middle school. This really takes me back!

What, no mention of Jeff Kivett? Really? 😮 Where's the clip of Chuck saying he thought drum corps players were the 3rd trumpets from marching band? Other than that, excellent piece of video, thanks Rondo

I am confused about the fact that Jeff Kivett played with Chuck Mangione? Am I confusing him with Jeff Tyzik? If so, my apologies
