Hey! From what I know, with the “heel-down” technique your foot should rock back & forth to give you the speed of leverage with double strokes. So your heel doesn't stay on the pedal entirely. Personally, I played heel-down at first, but I didn't get the speed I wanted till I figured out “heel up”. We all learn differently, but try giving heel-up a whirl. You may surprise yourself. Hope this helps!

I picked up drums again after a 30+year absence and needed slow and easy enough fills explained slowly and easily. KJ does a great job of that and then some. Stephen Taylor is another drummer that can not only play great but can teach great as well, not easy & not all drummers possess said skill set. KJ & ST do, & thank Buddy Rich (God) for that. They both get me in Bonzo mode which is to just whack the friggin things sometimes, make noise and in the process start to develop fluidity and a lil confidence enough to be willing to try practice what they're teaching even though it sounds like shit for now. Thanks KJ, keep on keeping on...

You can add 2 ghost notes on the snare right before the first kick of the fill. I don't know the note values but it sounds awesome to me :D

hi! Do you think its a mistake to keep my heel against the pedal of the kick for doing double strokes on the kick drum .. I mean i can handle it but does it cost me more concentration and will it be wrong for improving ? thanks man

Practice timestamp 1:55 -- might also sound cool as a hi-hat fill.... and maybe throw in a splash on the 2nd L, or the last R....

KJ Rias Haha it was nothing personal man. My experience with the FS kits has just been bad (my brother's friend also had one), so I am surprised yours is not only holding up after all this time, but actually sounds good too.
