Al is very special and IMO the ideal bassist with him was George Mraz. I was lucky enough to have both of them at my record session as well as quite a few live gigs.

I saw Mike Nock live with Mraz and Mike Brecker live at a street concert on 52nd St. in the late 1970s when I was a teenager. I was floored and ran out immediately to buy the record with that same team: In, Out and Around - still love that record and it’s amazing how a particular group and/or rhythm section can leave a lifelong imprint on a young musician
