Thank you for these extensive videos! You just sold the TR-8S for me. It has everything I need, and though I miss the workflow of my Electron MachineDrum, I really am looking for something more immediate, but not at the price level of the Analog Rytm. And it just sounds incredibly good!

Loved it as always. Great stuff brother! I've used/owned most all of these and the ones I still love and use on the regular are #1 Analog RYTM MK2, #2 Perkons, #3 Digitakt, (I'd also add the Syntakt although I don't really use it as a drum machine as its marketed). All so unique and powerful and driven by super creative sequencer capabilities. Keep up the awesome content!!!

the programming capabilities and ease of use of the lxr-02 is unmatched. lfos that can be used and trigged by other voices... deep sequencer, unique character and song mode are fantastic. I just wish there were other drum machines that had that kind of power. an analog rytm with a second lfo per voice would be such a win.

I caught onto the LXR in the 3-4 years prior to the LXR-02... & not long afterwards one was selling 2nd hand locally... LXR-02 was a easy decision 4 me to buy when released. There is a lot of the vibe & sound in them that is right in the middle of 1st gen Elektrons... Monomachine & Machinedrum. The LXR-02 has made me love Monomachine more now... I start things on it now thinking of it as another device with similar amounts of tracks, & can mimic much of the LXR-02 workflow, to start from... LXR-02 is my best Monomachine beat based box in combo together 4 sure... but either can do a couple of tracks for either very similar percussion or synth parts.

In my honest opinion the Perkons and the Analog Rythm MKII are the bees knees of modern drum machines, but the TR-8s as an introductory platform to drum machines there is just no beating it, specially when comparing retail prices

I have a TR-8S. It's a very capable drum machine. Nothing to add to the drum machine aspect. Would love to live sample. Wish the workflow was different as I've accidently altered songs I've spent some time on inadvertently using the same kit for another pattern bank (song) and modifying it, then when I go back to my other song it's ruined, has happened more than once, solved with merging the kit with the pattern banks so each saved pattern (8x16) keeps it's own kit.

Just stumbled on this DL one i was fanatikal about. Nou 7 months later. Leerned a lat and it still make me happy. I like that its a bit oldskool with limit samples. But never had problems with memory. And she samples sound so good when tuning then in w set. Distributing your sound over the 6 out is the way to sound truly professional. Os1.2 only thing the TOM’s Could be more outspoken. The list of external software is a good list of weeks to try and test. But the VPM true mij analog heat was insaine. Here they go now for 440,- to be honest i think its a 700,- worth piece of kit i have put 909/808 / Perkons high q 32bit 48kHz and it is killer combined with the analog kick. Less then 500,- is a no brainer

I find the best device here to actually make real music is the Novation Circuit Rythm. Very cleverly thought. I tried almost every Elektron and never bonded with them. I just ended up making strange bleepy electronic stuff, which they seem meant to be.. I've always asked myself, who actually listens to music made on Elektrons, except Elektronauts 😂?
@MaverickM1Ай бұрын
As I commented under the first part of the video I felt the same. Every device was somehow out of my interest. Completely. Tried arturia but can’t do a proper drum pattern for music I like to play. And the Circuit Rhytm is a different beast. Also a sampler. Very versatile, I will probably buy it. Hte others are meh (for me). Also Novations very long range uodate support adds tons of features even to older devices. (I have some Novation devices already, good wuality and problem free machines, love them)

Great review! I still can't decide which one to get! I thought I have narrowed my choice to 3 drum machines only of which the TR-8S was probably the best option. However I am still very tempted to get the Digitakt, some people do some crazy stuff on it. Sadly, it is probably not the easiest and the most intuitive device.... TR-8S or Digitakt?
@SURCOlive Жыл бұрын
Digitakt 100% especially from a workflow perspective. The TR8s has the awesome fader per track, but editing sounds on the fly is impossible. Compare that with the Digitakt that can edit easily then jump back to a saved state, parameter locking of EVERY synth parameter per step, and the ability to even lock different samples with all their parameters locked per step is crazy powerful.
@minimal3734 Жыл бұрын
Learning the digitakt is quite a task. I'm selling it. I prefer more accessible gear.

the elektron is not hard to learn, at all... that idea is over-rated.... if it wasnt complicated, you wouldnt be able to do the things that it is capable of. there is a big screen with lots of info, and lots of knobs and buttons to access the various menu parameters. and if the machine has capabilities that you are not interested in having in your music, then you dont need to learn that particular function. you are not going to get on it and on the first day do all kinds of crazy complicated sequences right off the bat... you wouldnt be able to do that with any particular instrument until you learn it.
