Not having a mace or baton should not stop you from learning. You can make your own to learn.

Thank you, this is GREAT! I am a high school drum major and I am fortunate enough that my school provides our maces, but this is a cool little video for those who can’t afford to buy their own. I have been watching your videos since I became a drum major about three years ago, and they have really helped me improve my mace skills even though I only use the mace about twice a year for parades. I am still shaky and only know a few flourishes and spins, but I will be the a drum major in the 2019 Rose Bowl Parade (the Hawai’i All-State Marching Band) and I will DEFINITELY be watching your videos again to learn more. Thank you so much!

If you had the time and inclination, you could file the end of the dowel and taper it down enough for the smaller cane tip. A tapered ferrule would look a little more baton-like.

I love this. Im a drum major for my high school band however we are a corps band (meaning we dont use any drum major equipment). Mace is a such an amazing art and I learned a bit from the people I met at my drum major camp over the summer. I want to continue spinning and learning mace and this is perfect

5:24 That would be suitable for a regimental style mace. Since regimental maces are not for flourishing, it wouldn't be a problem
