Also to answer a question you asked . This was 100% improved as the very first time I’d even played to this track that was sent to me hours before the session. I listened to the melody 4x and practiced the song in its entirety 3x for structure and just went for it in one take . The music leads you if you listen and follow. I never write a part for sections of a songs like this I just play what I feel at the moment and hope for the best ..lol

Sput is the original drummer and producer for snarky puppy before larnell and he and Nate (snarky puppy) started the group Ghost-Note which he write arrange and composed the music And he the band leader and the arranger composer of ALL the Zildjian live music. Sput came into my university with mono neon a week ago doing a Q&A and a jam session. He gave great advise, he said “you don’t determine your future, your habits do. Make sure you cultivate good habits” couldn’t agree more. He was incredible, a real privilege to watch and chat with him. He’s so cool 😌

Crazy that you’ve missed Sput, he’s the drummer in Snarky Puppy (Larnell Lewis filled in for him on the “We Like it Here” album and did such a good job now they’re both in the band), you must have only seen the stuff from the post-Larnell years. Check out “Bent Nails” from Snarky Puppy, he’s playing drums and wrote that tune.

Saw Toto with Sput last fall, Stockholm. The highlight for me was his tribute to James Brown and Jeff Porcaro. Have seen Toto in most constellations, Porcaro, Philips, Bissonette and Forrest but missed Carlock and Coialuta. Lukather, Joe and Paich have an exquisite taste for drummers.

My friend went to arts magnet schools here in DFW together WITH Sput and several of the other Snarky Pups. Like Sput, my friend is a drummer and producer….Sometimes he jokes that he’s a drummer that plays bass and others that he’s a bassist that also plays drums. My friend is ALSO the one who turned me on to both Snarky Puppy AND Dirty Loops. One of his other friends was playing with Prince leading up to his ‘death.’❤️

I went down a KZbin rabbit hole and stumbled on Larnell Lewis, then kept going and saw people saying stuff like "Yeah when those guys first joined Snarky Puppy they didn't think they were good enough to play with Sput, who was the drummer at the time." I was like "They had another drummer??" And now I'm just reeling from discovering all these god-tier musicians. And so many people say music sucks now! I always say today's music doesn't suck, it's just that mainstream music is so homogenized. But you dig just a bit deeper and you'll find an absolute embarrassment of world class talent, and you could spend all your time exploring and finding more and more. It's insane how rich and vibrant music is today

Still love them today but I played some PA Meinl just three years after my beginnings and I liked every one of them. I don't have the money to switch now but PA makes some really good cymbals. I recommend searching Risk of Rain soundtracks on KZbin and enjoy! Edit: also, now that I hopefully have your attention and if I may....you should totally look up Dirk Verbeuren in his Soilwork days. Amazing drummer.

Bro. Sorry mate, this is a face palm on you. You HAVE watched Sput. Many times. He is the director of music for Ghost Note, the backing band for all of the Zildjian Live shows. It is he who created all of those awesome arrangements, which just shows you how talented he really is. Ghost Note arrangements is his side gig. Yes, he is the drummer for Snarky - just not for the "We Like It Here" Larnell Lewis sessions. Basically sitting up there in the modern day pantheon of stuff you like.
