May we not forget Dunbar was: the drummer for the Peter Green edition of John Mayall's Bluesbreakers; the longest-serving, most-recorded Frank Zappa drummer; the original Jeff Beck Group drummer (before wearying of Jeff's laziness at the time and forming his own band); the drummer on Bowie's "Changes"'; the drummer on Bowie's "1984"; the drummer on Bowie's "Pinups"; the drummer on Jefferson Starship hits "Jane" and "Find Your Way Back"; the drummer on the 1987 version of Whitesnake's "Here I Go Again" (the hit, not the original, and not on the accompanying video); lost Hendrix's coin-flip to Mitch Mitchell to be the drummer for The Jimi Hendrix Experience; and turned down: Jimmy Page to form Led Zeppelin; Robert Fripp to form King Crimson. I hate hearing him reduced to "the guy Steve Smith replaced in Journey" when he was a GIANT.

@@DrumsetArtistry Right on. His playing for Zappa--the live recordings in particular--are monumental. Check out Montreaux 1971. The famous concert (referred to in the Black Sabbath title "Smoke on the Water") that ends in a fire which ends up evacuating the auditorium after Sabbath had already played and the Mothers were on the stage. His playing's genius...until the fire, of course. Cheers.

Don't forget Lou Reeds Berlin and his little known playing for Flo and Eddie is killer!

He's been in three of my fave bands, Ian Hunter, Whitesnake and UFO, but didn't play live with any of 'em! Nice to see him in action at last. He's good!

If you want to hear some of his best stuff, consider Journeys first album- Look into the Future. Listen to the cut On a Saturday Night.

One of the best out there. When Steve took over Journey it was Ansley that influenced Steve to master his skill set.

My english is not very good, Profe! From Uruguay! I was watching Tommy Aldridge's solo on Cryin`in the rain and I remembered that A. Dunbar plays on the record. Then I saw a spectacular solo by Mike Mangini and decided to look for Dunbar and came across a video of him. Why of those three do I like A.D. the most? Musicality? Abrazo grande!! Gracias!

I saw Aynsley in 1972 when he was with the Phlorescent Leech and Eddie; they were Frank Zappa's former back up band. He played an amazing solo. I thought only Buddy Rich was better. Aynley played better than Neil Peart and with much less gear.

Thanks. It's not a drum solo so I will hold off on reacting to it for now. Maybe later. There are so many drummers I haven't reacted to yet. Thanks!
