Can you do a drummer reaction to George Hurleys drum playing on the song “Glory of Man” by the Minutemen?..... would love your take on it..... simple, but very tight drums. I love when a drum beat can be played so clean and crisp

My dad loved Ed Thigpen and this brings back so many fond memories. Request: would you react to Prairie Prince? I think he’s terribly underrated?

Thanks! Please send me a link to a solo you like.

@@DrumsetArtistry unfortunately there’s almost nothing on YT from his prime in the 70s with the Tubes, but this is a nice approximation. Need to know that the beat and the call outs are of a piece with the sound of a Tubes show, so nothing is random: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iqSWZ6mtbayYrJo

His performance with Oscar Peterson: Live in Chicago is amazing. The drums are actually way up in the mix on that recording.

Jeff Hamilton is amazing with brushes this drummer is sublime. Charnett mofit is incredible those two together must be insane. Besides his pattern brushing if you close your eyes it’s old soft shoe tap. This is artistry indeed.

For a completely different approach, you've got to listen to drummer Gabriel Parra's solo in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hoHGn4OercuCbpY His band, Los Jaivas, is a Chilean band born in the late 60s which mixed rock music and traditional Latin American folk music. In case you want to learn more about this group, check this rather recent presentation, where Grabriel's daughter is the drummer (he died years ago): kzbin.info/www/bejne/aXS2f3eYqJyAgNk Hope you enjoy.

There’s so much. Try Basie jam Basie jam two and three. Tasty toe tapping small group swing style blues. All early Wes Montgomery guitarist has some great Beatles covers and standards. Try Mingus try soular energy ray brown try Ellington try Dave Brubeck this should keep you busy for awhile. Then try bop. Not my cup of tea but musicality is there. Miles Coltrane the library of great jazz is huge. Have fun
