Your videos are some of the most informative and helpful videos I've ever seen! They are so clarifying for someone who is a potential customer, in order to understand the differencies between products! Saying so, I would like to suggest a different editing though, that would provide even more clear information: You'd rather present the natural sound take of each product in sequence and then the triggered takes in sequence again, instead of natural and then triggered for each one. That way it would be easier for the viewer to compare the behaviour between the different products for each case (natural, triggered). Beside that, keep up this excellent work!

I read a question asking how to reduce volume with the real feel and another asking about retaining the drums tone. To reduce the volume you could simply place a basic mesh head on the resonant or have no resonant at all. If you wish to reduce the volume but retain the basic tone of the drum then you could place any normal drum head on the resonant side with any mesh head on the batter side. I personally like the second option as it allows me to practice quietly without having to turn on my drum module. However of you live in an apartment then the first option is better.

I just recieved my "real feel" 12 inch for the snare of my acoustic to electronic conversion. It is beautiful (very white, can't see through it) and feels AMAZING ! When tuned right, it's the closest thing to a real drum head I ever tried ! Maybe I'm gonna order some for all my toms too! But at least I have the snare. I also ordered the rim silencer. That thing is REALLY HARD to install and it's very thick ! But once you get it there, it makes the rim more silent then any other. Good job, Drum-tec!

Personally, I've tried the white Design heads, the black Pro heads and the semi-transparent basic heads. The only reason I haven't tried the real feel ones yet is that the ones I stuck with (SPOILER ALERT: The white Design heads) still last - they're extremely durable and the real feel heads were not yet available when I bought my last set of heads (okay, maybe besides durability it also helps that I got kids in the meantime and don't have much time to play anymore, but I digress...). Astonishingly, I liked the black Pro heads the least. They just felt... wrong. The rebound wasn't right. They felt plain dull. Trigger response was not as great as with other heads. And while they did last longer than the basic heads, they still wore out relatively quickly. The basic heads are okay-ish: They're cheap, they trigger well, don't make a lot of noise... but they bounce your sticks like a tennis rack - which is okay, if you want to use that to your advantage and develop a super-lazy rebound technique... but that will only work with heads like these and you'll probably ruin your technique for any other type of head in the long run. Also, these things have no durability whatsoever. And since you'll have to replace them every few weeks, they aren't really that cheap in the long run. The white Design heads are super great. Rebound almost exactly like on a regular non-mesh drum head. Super durable. Great trigger response. Go get them and love them :-)

@drumtecTV6 жыл бұрын
Hey Greg, sorry for the "marketing talk" :) both design as well as Real Feel mesh heads trigger accurately & very well. The design head only has 2 layers & is a little thinner, so it might feel just a little bit more sensitive. Therefore, the Real Feels rebound feels even more like an acoustic head, being a 3 layer mesh. Hope that helps a little, both models play & trigger great! :) kind regards
@Sn00ze3 жыл бұрын
You guys at drumtec should mount the realfeel on some rubber rims like the rtom black holes to give us the ultimate practice heads: low volume + acoustic tone + perfect rebound + easy installation/removal. I would buy a set in a heartbeat!
@drumtecTV3 жыл бұрын
You can put the Real Feel heads on any acoustic shell & use a rim noise eliminator on the drum's rim: www.drum-tec.com/rimnoise-eliminator-pro You need the drum rim/lugs for tightening the head, otherwise it won't work. Installation is actually very easy & straight forward :) kind regards!

What mesh head would you recommend for kick drums (I have an 8 inch kick drum I'd like to replace the mesh head on). I see that both the Diabolo and pro series kicks have design heads, is this the head you would recommend for kicks (even those of 8 inch size) or is it better to go with the real feel heads for those sizes?

Hello, I'm trying work out some noise issues on my electric kit and by far the noisiest component is the KD-10 kick drum (my kit is a Roland TD17-KVX). I'm looking to convert one of my acoustic snare drums to a kick drum using a Roland RT-30H. Will the Basic Mesh head be ok for this application (I will be using a double pedal with this). Will it be too bouncy or too weak for a bass drum? Thanks so much!

Hi there, well it is not only about the head in this case, but also about the right amount of dampening to reduce unwanted rebound & retriggering. Thanks for this very nice and usefull video. How does the noise level of drum tec heads compare to the basic rubber pad from Roland or their mesh pads ? A similar video for drum tec bass drum will be awesome !
@drumtecTV9 жыл бұрын
+Newbiedrum mesh heads in general will deliver a lot less noise than rubber pads. You can find more info on our different mesh head types here in the video info text above (each head is a little different in terms of rebound feeling & noise level). Our standard design heads are pretty equal to the Roland heads in terms of noise, but have a significantly more realistic rebound. We actually have a video on the drum-tec realf feel bass drums here on the channel, sadly no noise level demo in there. In direct comparison to the standard Roland bd pads, they are significantly more silent and have a very realistic playing feel (you can "bury" the beater in the head, no unwanted/unrealistic bouncy rebound). Hope that helps a bit! Kind regards

Hi there, the Real Feel heads have about the same noise level as any other silent mesh head on the market, there is no way to reduce noise levels any further. Are you using rubber protections for your rims (as those are the most noisy parts of the drums when playing rim shots)? What resonant heads are you using on your shells, could it be that your drums resonate in some way when you hit them? Kind regards

Hi Fabian, well obviously these are different marketing terms for the same positive attributes :) in my personal opinion, both trigger perfectly, while the Real Feel is 1 ply thicker & has a different feel/rebound. If you play mainly pop/rock/groove stuff, I would generally suggest Real Feel. If you prefer a more delicate playing feel comparable to a high tuned jazz kit for example, I would possibly go with the design mesh heads.
