I've watched this multiple times and posted it on Facebook. Mr. Amblin, it's a joy to hear someone bringing back swing drumming. I know the term "swing" is trite, at least here in America it is, but no one could swing like Krupa. Rich had more skill, but he could never swing a group like Krupa. I see you're doing other things as well, I especially like your work with Alex Graham, someone else I am growing to admire for his generous nod to the past. I hope you don't stop pursuing the Krupa swing throughout your career, which I hope will be a long and successful one.

Thanks a lot for saying all that Edmastin. Very kind of you to take the time and I'm really glad that you like and appreciate what I do. All the best! Jack

Thanks Kim! Not sure it's possible to completely get Gene's feel, but your comment is appreciated!

Beautiful! There were better technicians, but nobody swung like Gene. I think you nailed it.

Jack... nice work! You do Gene justice....he had a great style that is not as easy to play as people think. You nailed it.

Fantastic! I love playing this song. I use a play along you probably heard of, called Sittin in with the Big Band. Also, I might add Krupa has always been my most favorite drummer other than Tony Williams or Steve Gadd. I would tune my drums like Krupa and try to play like him! You have the chops down, very nice transcription. You should print it out and sell it!

I do write down and sell my transcriptions, however this one is already available in a Gene Krupa transcription book!

Great piece of drumming there 😃 you done it just as gene would have done ☺

It's not bad but I don't think there is a back beat running through like I played on here all those years ago!

Nice work, very interesting. I like the attention to period detail, too, vintage kit, vintage clothes, vintage braces.... Apple MAC. Apple MAC? :)
@JackAmblin8 жыл бұрын
+SAHBfan haha yeah I know what you means! It does ruin the image somewhat, but I had to record it somehow and hopefully all the visual elements come secondary to the playing! Hope you liked it and enjoyed my other videos too!

Dónde puedo conseguir el play along de este tema?????
@JackAmblin5 жыл бұрын
Lamentablemente, no creo que puedas comprar una obra por mucho tiempo, sin embargo, puedes comprar fácilmente la melodía original.

Great playing and superb feel. You really don't hear many drummers like you today. Are there any stickings or rudiments you'd recommend in practicing that are commonly found within Gene Krupa's playing? Just started analysing his style and I find it hard to actually hear what he's doing a lot of the time
@JackAmblin6 жыл бұрын
Hi Ross, thanks for your kind words. There are some certain stylistic things that Gene does yeah... like he uses a paradiddle-diddle instead of single strokes in a pattern regularly... if you want some more information maybe, feel free to send me an email: jackamblindrums@gmail.com

Jack Amblin It’s a University known for it’s music department. Legendary drummers went to school there and were also instructors. Ed Soph, Steve Houghton, and of course John Riley. I can’t remember what made me ask you that?
@JackAmblin6 жыл бұрын
Haha I wouldn't be able to get in there then!
@Jameskeith19726 жыл бұрын
Jack Amblin Nonsense. Stop thinking like that. It’s not like it’s Berkeley. You don’t have to have prior classical training to get in. It’s a small school in Denton. I’m sad that I didn’t attend, on of my biggest regrets. You should look into it especially if you plan on staying in music. You have what it takes. That’s passion and devotion. How long have you been playing?
@JackAmblin6 жыл бұрын
Haha maybe one day, I might look at doing a masters. I've been playing since I was 10, so 16 years ago!
@Peter64AD4 жыл бұрын
There is no backbeat in this song Krupa is playing a stomp that is a jazz syncopated one. There is no steady back beat with the left hand.
@JackAmblin4 жыл бұрын
Yes agree with you Peter. I did it a long time ago and I misheard.
@Peter64AD4 жыл бұрын
@@JackAmblin it's all cool. That form of drumming is obsolete these days they had another style that a lot of people don't understand. As Jimi Hendrix said play on drummer.....
@roybeckerman92535 жыл бұрын
The song relies heavily on toms....very much missed here.
@genekrupafan3 жыл бұрын
Really? When does Gene play the toms in this tune?
