Im 18 been playing for years. Im going to get the iron cobra 600 double. I had a used one but the left pedal was like sticking my foot in a bucket of shit. Im a single bass drum enthusiast but im turning to the dark side after years. As long as the left feels similar to the right in speed and power for the pedal, im all for it. Any tips on sings to start off on?
@Quasar126 Жыл бұрын
@@dylanbaldwin7934 play slowly and work your way up. what I did was start at something slow like 60-70 bpm and do 16ths for 5-10 minutes. then go up, and up. you should also work on control like playing triplets and hertas on your feet (or whatever a blast of three notes is called)

Awesome tutorial! I primarily play rock and Jazz-fusion but have recently auditioned for a semi-professional band and landed the gig cause they liked my overall playing and my technique/speed and control in my hands. However my left foot had some trouble(I have played double kick before but I'm not that fast) so now I really just try to practice to get up in the control and speed I need for this band.

Cool! I’ve just started really working on my double bass and I have been using exercises very similar to your first two. I am looking forward to trying out the third exercise. I have gone from playing 1/4 notes at 150 bpm to 250 bpm in about a week. I have been practicing 1 to 1.5 hrs a day and run 3-5km a day with a weighted pack, which helps. I have used double bass before, but never worked on anything more than very short (and sloppy) bursts.

I'm finally getting into some double bass work. Years ago I got lucky and found a DW9000 double pedal on Craigslist hard up for fast cash and I bought it almost new in box etc for $220. But not being a double bass guy it sat in the box for like a decade. But I bought a new electric drum set for playing at home and I thought why not, I'm not performing just having fun, and man am I glad I finally put it to work. So much fun, and as a left handed human and a right handed drummer I duplicated the ride on the set for my left hand too. That's also opened up all kinds of new paths to new ideas and sounds. So thanks for this video, I'm on it.

I'm just now getting into a double bass pedal and this is a great exercise. I'm an old-style rudimental swing drummer getting back into it after 33 years, and I'm not as fleet of foot as I used to be (with my trusty Ludwig Speed King bass pedal I could actually do "Wipe Out" with my one foot on the bass), so I figured I could make up for it with a double bass pedal. I've actually been practicing the rudiments with my feet and also noticed right away that my left foot is quite weak. Thank you for these suggested exercises. I know they will be a help.

Thank you for sharing this video. After the numerous other bass drum videos I've watched trying to increase speed and control, this one actually helped. I've been playing the drums for 20+ years and always slacked on my double bass. I was never taught the correct way to practice. This technique works. I've been doing it since it was posted and already see improvement in my control.

I love and use all these exercises. I like to add small changes to them while I practice. For example, the first exercise, when I'm playing with my left foot, instead of starting the exercise with the snare and bass hit, I'll start the exercise with the bass pedal so your hitting 3 in between HH hits as you count. So instead of bass/hh, bass, bass/hh, bass, bass/HH/snare, bass, bass/hh, bass. I'll play bass, bass/hh, bass, bass/hh, bass/snare, bass/hh, bass, bass/hh. It's a great way to get used to hitting the snare on off beats. I'm new to drumming, only 1 month in so I wish I could explain it better. Bottom line is this video was a huge help.

Hello from Las Vegas! I was recently recruited as the drummer for a local upcoming band Wrath&Sorrow. We are a cover band but also have originals. We play decent but there is always room for improvement. Some of the songs we are about to tackle have some pretty intense drumming so this video is exactly what I needed. And the fact that you are willing to train fellow drummers at being better with their craft is simply amazing! Which is why I signed up for DBO Academy as well as subscribe to this youtube channel and follow on instagram & facebook...thank's again and ROCK ON!!!
