I've been listening to Bill Stewart for 30 years. I met him a few times when I lived in NYC. I'm always amazed. Brilliant.

It’s all amazing... but the trading clip that starts at 6:15 is just outrageous. Especially that second trade and the return to time. I just burst out laughing when I saw it

Can we take up a collection to buy Bill a wingnut and top felt for his flat ride? Man, I'd hate for a beautiful K Light Flat to get broken like that.

He lost the ride at least twice in this video set (separate occaisions), right? I wasn't sure if he lost it three separate times...

I think he likes the unpredictability of what's going to happen to it!

It would be nice if you could get some “Toad” on you tube. He made me the best trombone player in the midwest and that is why i still play today. Nowhere on you tube, guest featured soloist of the 1976 NWMSU festival and greatest mentor I ever hadz

I think that Bill is working on the decision if he needs 3 or 4 cymbals in the future

I watched Bill play last night with Bernstein and Goldings at our local jazz club. A couple 'non-drummer' questions: 1) I see him reach over with his left hand to clamp down on the hi-hats - what is he accomplishing by doing this? 2) I'm not sure I know any other jazz drummers playing match grip. Anyone know why he doesn't go with trad grip?

I Had the very good fortune to study jazz drums with Bill for one year at the University of Connecticut. It was definitely an amazing experience. He was fresh out of William Paterson And right around the time he recorded the Maceo record. What I took away was play really musically and think melodically on the drums as well as adding a righteous groove.
