Goosebumps every time, look that 3-4 drum fill to set up that last phrase. Also Tom Rarick probably one of the only arrangers aside from Glyde to write both front ensemble and battery.

I remember JJ Pipitone when he was a tenor player for Dutchboy back in the day (late 80s) he was a wonderful player and played so cleanly. Great to see that he is not out of the game - Go JJ

well what if i said.....you're all right? haha. 2014 was awesome. so was 2015. and 2016. and 2010. and 2017, 2018, and 2019! hell yeah bloo six words ;) i marched there in the mid-2000s and we did our thing but i'll try and stay focused on this decade. i feel like tilt is (understandably) credited as the year they took 'the leap.' (o shit, unintentional tilt pun), but this 2013 show/corps was incredible! what a great drum line and pit, you can feel that energy. 4th on finals week. i love how they kept throwing in those traditional rudimental seven stroke roll-type parts, and blending them into more modern stuff. (i play mello so i'm a bit out of my element here; been around some amazing bloo drumlines including 2nd place in 07, but never been IN one.) you can hear the horns pretty well on this tape, and they sound so clean and balanced throughout. seemed like a really hard show physically too, so it kinda leads me to suspect that the 2014 corps wasn't drastically better than 2013, it was just more potent GE wise, more sustainable and effective physically, and also featured an improved guard.

Not sure if this has been pointed out yet, but at 9:43 one of the tenors drops a stick, you can hear it bounce off a few drums before the judge runs to go pick it up. It almost looks like he runs behind the tenor player to try to put it back in his stickbag lol

Looking back on this, I can hear a lot of similar writing in Tilt. The battery and pit didn't sound much cleaner in 2014 to me so it seems music style and the kids being able to really enjoy the tilt show won them silver. This was great though, JJ cracks me up. He's the kind of judge drummers want to play for.

DrumCorpsTube Do you know if the judge was on the field, or on the sidelines? I like hearing the judges' tapes - I wouldn't get to hear them if they weren't on here! 😃 I think I might've only heard one when I used to be in a Drum & Bugle Corps (I was in the hornline), but I can't remember what was said on it.
