This series has been enlightening. Of the 3 videos posted so far (coated, clear, calfskin) I find myself drawn to the medium/high tuned calfskin as my favorite on the toms, followed by the low/medium coateds that have been my go-to for years. I never would have tried calfs. Thanks for doing this series. Can anyone comment to the durability of calfheads?

Hi Tom! Glad to hear you have enjoyed this video series. We are pretty new to the Calftone heads as well so we don't have any info regarding durability. However, the tone is great and they really feel nice under the stick as well!

Yes, I have used them. As a light-medium hitter, I found the durability decent, but they're on the fragile side. Heavy handed players will probably be disappointed. I let my ham-fisted brother play them a few times and one of the heads blistered up in the center. I planned on trying remo fiberskin before buying the calftone again, but I did quite enjoy them. Can't wait to play them on my wts kit when it arrives... (hopefully soon)

@@fatdrunkbaby24 Thanks for replying. I tend to hit a little hard, so this is really helpful. I’ll probably still try them out at some point of course.

@@tomnaumann2104 no problem. It is a 7 mil single ply. Great sound. My bro literally whittles his right stick down to a toothpick on the hats... Even so I just checked them and only the 12" has that blistering and it's still got a bit of tone. I think I had them on about 6 months anyway by the time that happened.
