Just want to help :) that is 16th note triplet counting (consists of 6 notes in 1 beat of 4/4 bar). 1st demonstration : hit the snare on the 6th note of 16th note triplet 2nd demonstration : hit the snare on the 2nd note of 16th note triplet It is hard to explain just by comments... lol hahaha

to achieve what you're looking for (if we're speaking about the same thing) you must not try to sound like a drummer but rather like a programmed beat; it's obvious Quest and Daddy Dave have been living with this culture for decades so when they started to emulate that on the kit, they didn't have any issues with the way it was supposed to sound (that's probably the most important part) listen a lot in order to hear naturally (this is true for any instrument and musical style anyway)

your groove isn't quite happening yet my friend but you're on the right track. i would invest in a kick mic and some music software and just work on recording yourself playing simple grooves. then listen back and be honest about what you're hearing. you're on the right track though! don't give up mate!

i know they're are both J Dilla fanatics so try Slum Village's Fantastic first. any 90's hiphop classic will do actually (A Tribe Called Quest, GangStarr, Pete Rock...) investigate, be curious, listen more than play cause this is not about chops, this is about ears ;)

no problem but as it says "hiphop beat" in the title of your vid, you should have done this a long time ago already ;)

i found this private message in my YT box: "HEY!! This kid is amazing! if you like Adam Deitch, Chris Dave, Questlove and Hip Hop you should definitely check this out!!" with a link to this vid well i do like ?uestlove and Chris Dave but to me, this vid has absolutely nothin to do with the way they sound, sorry :( you can play alright but i guess you're underestimating what these guys are doing, it's not in the chops dude but in the culture so...keep listening ;)
