Two different styles. I consider this more of a showcase, no winner. Both did well in their respective style.

If pv get rid of all those basses maybe you can here what they are actually playing, but great job both sides, obviously one side was way more balanced then the other,

The fact that one play warm ups or cadences doesn’t matter, we are here to hear funky and clean. To make it easier to anyone who’s not a percussionist it’s like listening to someone read out loud one sounds understood the other sounds like they are trying to scream words

Not different styles, but different APPROACHES. They both held it down for what they do. Each line held it's own.

The cadence by DOA at 20:19 mark is cold!! DOA has excellent material!
@majorbryant7604 жыл бұрын
This was SUPER dope to watch. I’m DOA but a huge fan of the box or MSD no disrespect to whomever. But just like how in the swac the going common thing is running drops and no tonals, this was a clear mismatch in volume obviously, I just personally think with PV the high tension snares will always be swallowed by their bass drum section, they sound great up close but in the stands all I hear is bass drums, an occasional tenor and rolls and rimshots. Not bashing but the 2 styles really can’t be compared. Only way is through a sectional battle tbh
@AKINGSKYD6 жыл бұрын
Giving this one to D.O.A....Great battle though. I think what gave the edge to D.O.A was because their sound. Not in terms of cadences, but in terms of blending. MSD probably was throwing some heat but their BD’s somewhat overpowered the section at times causing it difficult to hear what the rest of the section was contributing.

Personally I wish Swac drumlines would add tonal basses to their lines. I get tradition but is time for an upgrade. I can see MSD along with certain other lines making that transition.
@ccharlie056 жыл бұрын
Carlo Hill that's like an unofficial big no no in the SWAC. WE HATE TONAL BASSSES!!! Yes in cadences I understand but in most SWAC schools they want the percussion piece to sound that of a drum set and a few schools have quints but you're not gonna see tonal bases in the SWAC. When you have time listen to SWAC bands song selections and listen to the percussion piece you'll hear what I'm talking about.

Swac people always say it's two different styles. You cant judge pr no winner. What's the point of even competing then... pvamu is the closes to a meac drumline

DOA ROASTED DAT ASS with warm ups and marches! NCCU has the most balanced, blended, clean sound I’ve heard in a while. You can actually hear all parts of the cadence. Although PV has some good grooves, their basses sound like trash cans.. no skill or control needed whatsoever to make that line lol and Tenors were dirty. NCCU took this one.

Because we run drops in the swac that's why, running different size drums to drop sounds better than all the same size drum. That's why we're louder than everyone else
