Legendary stuff thanks Ken. How cool to have such an accomplished man interviewed on your channel. As usual, you are THE man! Please keep this level of presentation coming. Dig Jazz and cheers from Oz.

My favorite drummer. I’m a Ry Cooder fanatic and Jim’s playing is an integral part of that sound. Just an incredible musician. Great interview!

I bought a Ludwig Vistalite Snare because of this story. I couldn't go with the Super Sensitive model. I never liked them. They are a pain in the ass when they go out of adjustment. But the sound is fantastic. I saw a video where they hit just the shell with a closed fist and the Vistalite fundamental note was a whole Octive below the wood shell. Awesome collection of work Jim.

Wow. A trash can lid. Who would ever thought that. Ken, this behind the scene interview was so cool. I always found it interesting to actually get a peak into the making of a song/album. Brilliant…. As well as all of those talented musicians who were there during this album’s creation.

I was thinking after, I wonder if Jim still had his Garbage Can lid cymbal or the snare he used in those sessions. Hard to know at the time how important these items will become. 🤓

Do we know where Jim positioned the ‘trash can’ at the set?

On 22nd October 2023 I was talking to John Jorgenson about Jim Keltner after he had just played in a concert in Brisbane Australia as featured soloist. I asked him if he'd played with Jim, and then he asked me why I made the query and I told him that Jim is the only sideman I can identify by his "sound". He told me that the most recent occasion he'd seen Jim was at Ringo's big "bash" earlier in 2023. I can hardly believe that just five days later I'm watching this video.

Jesus. Painful to go through this full interview. Great drummer, but damn, can't communicate for anything.
