For the first 50 times I listened to that album before bed, I would turn off the light and indulge in the music completely - just my ears.

When Love started rehearsing and recording for Forever Changes, the band hadn't gigged for a while, there were drug issues with some members, and they were very untogether. So Arthur Lee decided to apply a bit of tough love by hiring The Wrecking Crew to play on Andmoreagain and The Daily Planet, which he then made the band members listen to. It shocked them into upping their game, and the rest of the album was recorded with the band doing the tracks. They recorded one more single after Forever Changes came out, but problems in the band were too far gone and they soon split up. If you watch the video that they shot for their final A-side Your Mind And We Belong Together, you'll see the band members interacting (seemingly happy and amiable, but then so were The Beatles at their final photo session) and you'll hear their electric sound.

Yeah, the story of Love has a whole lot of pain and heartbreak in it but so much fantastic and unique music too. The saddest part is that while other bands like the Doors, who were helped by Lee, surged ahead to stardom Love were going nowhere. Partly due to Arthur's dislike for touring.

Probably the most unknown, underrated classic album in the history of classic rock. There's actually a video of a concert Arthur Lee did before his passing, in Europe where they play this whole album. I would highly recommend it as a must watch.😎👌

Arthur Lee and Love played the whole "Forever Changes" album at Glastonbury in 2003. It's on KZbin. It's absolutely brilliant.

Interestin' you should catch the Hendrix influence with Arthur's vocals on Bummer In The Summer. He 'n Jimi were buddies 'n Hendrix played guitar on The Everlastin' First from Love's album False Start.

Got to see him and his band a year or so before he died , they played whole of De Capo and Forever Changes , magnificent . So powerful .

Yeah, the wife and I saw him play Forever Changes with Baby Lemonade without the orchestra in Manhattan. Arthur was absolutely on fire and the band had every sound and detail down but it was swinging. They added a show the following day owing to ticket demands.

@@brewstergallery so funny on the song where Arthur sang “ I’m gonna get my pistol “ he waved his finger and shook his head. Hilarious .

@@alanthomson1227 But darkly so as he had a history of getting into to trouble over firearms. At our show this creepy couple tried to snatch something off the stage, a set list maybe and Arthur went nuts. He wouldn't play until they were ejected. The whole crowd was shouting " Get out, get out" until they were gone. Don't know about you but I would NEVER mess with Arthur.

@@brewstergallery yes , I mentioned his actions with pistol due to the fact he served time for firearms offences .

It is one of my major regrets that I never saw Love, I missed Arthur with his tour of Forever Changes they played in Shrewsbury it really was a Bummer that summer. This album when you first experience it infests your ears and mind you will never forget it its an album long earworm. I take solace in being able to watch Arthur at Glastonbury in 2003 its a real treat you should check it out go onspoil yourself you won't be disappointed.

The most underrated and underplayed album of all time !!!! It’s ones of those albums which if you were around at the time you played all the time. Later broadcasters never picked up on it hence it has been lost in time. Thanks to you it might make people revisit them. It’s that Canyon music with all the influences it meshed together. Thanks to you and the recommender.

criminally underrated band... maybe because the band name Love is such a common name? 🤔 science can't explain it...

Ned from Spain saying Lee, don't despair. There are still a whole lotta great bands out there you just gotta dig deeper. Look for the bands who are in it with an unquenchable passion, for the love, spirit and the strangeness of it rather than the financial gain. Peace brother and good health.

A House Is Not a Motel, The Daily Planet, and The Red Telephone are also must hears from this album, Forever Changes. Your Mind and We Belong Together is also a dynamic Love 45 single that came out around the same time.

Love "Alone Again Or" & Pentangle "Light Flight" are my 2 top songs of all time. The impact of both tunes will stay with you, I hope you will listen to both together sometime, as I usually play them that way. "Bummer in the Summer" is on the vinyl 45 flip side of "Alone Again Or".

I can't get my head around this..... That's not Arthur Lee. Is that a new press of the original album but with a 'new' singer? Certainly not the same as my 'Forever Changes' album.

Go back and listen again. Except for Old Man, which is Bryan, it is Arthur Lee. Perhaps you are thrown off because AndMoreAgain is not the regular band but Wrecking Crew behind hm and perhaps the recording sounds different because of that.
