Great quote from Mr King

I have been around long enough to say I was lucky enough to see both of them live. I saw Mr King in 1972 in a small club in San Diego. Saw SRV a year before his tragic death. Stevie is my all time favorite guitarist and a great singer.

Albert king loved Stevie Ray thought of him as his own son, they said the day Stevie died and Mr. King heard the news he cried like a baby and said the world lost the best never to even come close to filling his shoes, shorty after Stevie passed Mr, King followed, sad....the man truly loved Stevie............................R.I.P both of the greatest....................

I went to a show in Seattle about 1970. Steve Miller was the headliner, but they brought in Albert King as the opening act. All the white kids there to see Miller got an education in the blues from King.

When Stevie was starting out he hounded Albert to let him sit in and when he finally did the bond was formed. This Sessions album is great not just because of the music but the little stories and comments they make to each other.

One of my favorite SRV videos reacted to by my favorite SRV reactor. What could make a Stevie Sunday anymore perfect!!!!! Oh by the way, I loved the bell last week to my being a new requester😂😂😂. That was as great!!! Thanks Harriet!!! Great suggestion! Lee, I hope you watch every song in this session. My favorite is when they do Texas Flood. Stevie gets lyrics jumbled up and just laughs and proceeds to kill it. Then the playing gets so intense, they both stand and at one point Albert has to shake his hand due to what appears to me as maybe cramping up. It is AMAZING!!!!!

SRV ~ 🎸🐐 The goatiest goat in all of goatness Everyone thinks Jimi was Stevie's main man, but it doesn't take a genius to see (and hear) that Albert is clearly Stevie's main man.

Stevie had special awe of Albert King. He was respectful with all of the old blues masters. I saw him play with Buddy Guy and B.B. King. With Albert Collins he just went toe to toe with him, respectful, but full-bore competition which absolutely brought out the best in both of them. Check them out playing Albert’s “Frosty”.

Stevie couldn’t read music but his ability to write music and play the blues made him one of the greatest . “Riviera Paradise” is just beautiful. He wrote one called “Life by the Drop” about his addiction to alcohol. He almost died of liver failure and went to rehab. His ability to play the blues guitar just got better and we the fans were devastated when he was killed in a helicopter crash leaving Alpine Valley

When Stevie was a young teen he was in different bands and they would hang at famous Antoine’s bar where Albert King would perform. Stevie kept asking the Manager if he could jam with Albert and was told no, Albert was also quite grouchy about this kind of stuff but finally agreed to let Stevie jam. Well when Stevie finally got to play he played Albert every one of Albert’s own riffs and blew Albert away lol so they became very close freinds. Stevie revived the blues during the 80’s and a lot of the blue’s greats were able to go on the road again. Stevie heard Albert couldn’t afford a tour bus so he surprised Albert with a new bus. SRV always let the greats shine and they loved him like a son ❤️

make no mistake, Albert King was SRVs biggest influence. The more you listen to Albert, the more you hear him is Stevie’s playing. SRV was playing a gig and Albert was playing down the street. Stevie steps up to the mic and told everyone he was leaving to go watch Albert, and they should do the same! LOL

It was those bends to talk . People talk about Hendrix but if you look Albert King truly strung his guitar upside down . With the treble up top he got vicious bending of notes . Stevie just learned to do that right side up 🫡
