Patron X you sneaky chap... this was excellent. So much soul in one man is not fair! The whole song was such a strange yet absolutely amazing mix of genres. Jazz, Soul, and Rock and maybe one more too... but i'll leave y'all to figure that one out :) Great selection my friend! The vocals make my soul ache and then feel so triumphant at the end.

If I had to classify it, the answer is R&B Soul, with a touch of Jazz Swing.

Love them❤. If you get a second, their NPR Tiny Desk is great. So talented, so tight, and of course Paul's voice 💥

Thank you for listening to them. I think you could call them Blue Eyed Soul. I've seen them live - I think they usually play smaller venues and this video is - in my mind - a tame version of Paul Janeway. If you have to go see any band live .... pick them

Thanks for this reaction! St. paul and the broken bones is one of my best favorite bands and I have all of their vinyl albums as well. I really recommand you to listen to this songs by them: "Marigold" (be careful, very emotional), "Sanctify", "Love Letter From A Red Roof Inn", "Alien coust", "I'll Be Your Woman". By the way, it would be really interesting to know if you are familiar with a band called "The Windmill". I recently discovered this Norwegian band a few days ago, and I must say, they are exceptionally talented. It appears that they have been around since 2001, and it is quite astonishing how they have managed to remain relatively unknown. I had the pleasure of listening to their recent album titled "Tribus", and it is simply magnificent. The album begins with an epic 23-minute track called "The Tree", which is an absolute masterpiece. Their music gives me vibes of so many great bands like Jethro Tull, Camel, Genesis, and Uriah Heep, all blended together with a touch of neo-prog sound. It is complex, intricate, conceptual, and beautiful music, and the fact that it is played by non-professional musicians in a Norwegian garage makes it all the more impressive. If you haven't had the opportunity to listen to them yet, I highly recommend that you do. I assure you, you will not be disappointed.

so i use to live in alabama so have seen him multiple times especially before he was famous. so backstory on him. he grew up in a super religious household (Alabama) but the only person he really listened to was otis redding the Supremes (moms favorite group). he wanted to be a preacher when he was growing up but learned pretty quickly he didnt want to be a preacher he just thought he did because he liked the performance aspect of it which you can def see in his live performances. he was going to school to be an accountant and used the money from his pell grant to pay for studio time to record an album

Check out some later videos with Al Gamble. He's a friend of some of my friends who went to U. of Alabama. He's one of the best organ players out there right now. He used to have a band called the Gamble Brothers Band with his brother Chad on drums. Chad became Jason Isbell's drummer in the 400 Unit and Al has another band called the City Champs. BTW, I've had to put in earplugs when I've seen them in a club. Paul's singing it is that powerful. Here's a good one kzbin.info/www/bejne/r6KohKihpLiJp8Usi=KVO0LDbK9vNY39UE

No, I definitely need to grow up. Or maybe our definition of children was always wrong. Maybe when we were young we projected strength and confidnece into the adults we saw because they seemed to know a lot more than us at the time. SEEMED being the operative word there. I hear adults all time come off as confident and knowledgeable now, especially when they are wrong. We may have just been watching 'children' in adult bodies pretending to have all the answers so we wouldn't be scared. Something to ponder.
