Rewatch what you were referencing as the light touching he did on the cymbals and you will see it is even more impressive. He got the light sound by hitting the nuts on top of both cymbals. So cool. The audience was filled with pro drummers and you can see them reacting to it.

The band is called Ghost Note. They seem to be the "house band" for this recurring Zildjian event and are all flat out ridiculous in their instrument. Grammy winners everywhere. Larnell plays on a level that I simply can't comprehend. It's alien type shit. And it's awesome.

No, its right handed guitar, played left handed, the rotating of the guitar changes the order of the strings, so no need to restring in reverse :)

I'm gonna use your favorite word. Delicious! This guy has groove for days. Such an untouchably cool style. Reminds me a lot of John Blackwell Jr., actually. I hear a lot of the Minneapolis sound in his work. How else can you describe playing like this, you know? The only word is cool. It looks effortless and spontaneous, but at the same time it's so busy and jazzy. And CLEAN af. Holy smokes. Guys like this are vanguards of a dying art, sadly. There's a lot of drummers out there who can play fast and loud and complex polyrhythms, but they lose a lot of what makes this so... fun. Danny Carey takes a lot of inspo from cats like this. And Aric Improta plays with a lot of the same passion and creativity but through his own sort of lens which I love. I'm still very eager to hear you check out Vola - 24 Light Years, specifically their drummer Adam Janzi's playthrough. I think you'll just be in syncopation heaven. Great video, my dude 🤘

@Craig Billow, Right On! I'm with ya on the reference of Larnell having some of that John Blackwell Jr. (R.I.P.) feel of playing. There's so many, but I'd add hearing in both of their chops & laid back style approach on the skins a lot of traits similar to Dennis Chambers,Jack DeJohnette,Billy Cobham, IMO anyway. Either way you can't go wrong with any of them, they're all great drummers in their own right. Good looking out on suggesting Adam Janzi, nice! Back at ya if you're not hip to Yussef Dayes check out his vibe & his drums skills. [[[[[[++++++Peace & Rock n' Roll 4 Your Soul++++++]]]]]]

ok...if that is "next level shit" for you, you can imagine what this non musician ignoramus must think right now......but even in my ignorance, I recognize brilliance when I see it......I can't tell you why it's brilliant like you can but I can see and feel the talent. that video was classic "good times" if I've ever seen it.....everyone was smiling and appreciating the moment......and it was multiplied a thousand times by watching you watch them......you have your own expressions and vocalizations that have become classic at this point.......just the right amount of entertainment to go with the entertainment.......there are so many musical terms that I didn't know (of course, I will look them up) so I have at least 20 more times to watch this ahead of me....but I can tell you that I will enjoy all of them because this was fun.....

Larnel Lewis is indeed a great drummer. I always enjoy watching him play. An other drummer I really enjoy is Senri Kawaguchi. She has some live videos on her own channel going all the way back to when she was very young (11 years old or so), but the Drumeo channel has a good view on what she's playing being a drum centric channel. I would probably go with Senri Kawaguchi Crazy Fusion Drum Solo (Wupatki) or Senri Kawaguchi Hits Harder Than You - "Flux Capacitor" Drum Performance on the Drumeo channel, but you can't go wrong with any of them. There are more playthroughs of a song, but Drumeo also has a couple of drumsolos on there. They also have a drum-off with Sarah Thawer, which is great. I believe Sarah Thawer also has at least one Zildjan Live performance. Senri Kawaguchi & Sarah Thawer Drum-Off
