I'm partial to Sara's or the original cast version by Jessie Mueller, but she does a good performance here. My daughter sang this for her senior show a few years back. She put so much into it and I have a hard time not getting teared up listening to any performance of it. Lyrically and musically such a powerful and heart-wrenching song.

One of Shoshana's best friends is Cynthia Erivo who played Ceelie i. The Color Purple. She is a similar performer. She brings her full self and soul to every performance. I would recommend "I'm Here" sung on the Colbert Show or video of her singing it live onstage. It will touch you.

Great choice! You should watch Sara Bareilles sing it, too. There are 2 great versions: live on the Graham Norton Show, and also the official video. Both great. The first time I ever heard of Shoshana Bean was about 12 years ago. Frankie Grande tweeted out fur everyone to come to Ariana's 19th birthday at a gay club in West Hollywood called 11. I finished work a few blocks away in Beverly Hills. As far as I know, I was the only person in the downstairs st the bar that came dmfir the party. All the official guests were upstairs. It was a Monday, and the var had Musical Monday contests. People would sing Broadway songs and the best won something. One of Ariana's friends sang both characters' parts of Confrontation from Les Mis and won. "That's the greatest thing I've ever seen a straight guy do here. That's the only thing I've ever seen a straight guy di here." LOL. You could see the upstairs from below and there was a cat walk to a tiny area directky above the front door. Various people sang songs. The Shoshana sang something. You know she was big as all the gat guy went nuts when they saw who she was. I have a video of Ariana and Frankie Grande singing a duet, but the sound is so bad, I only have 12 views. My nephew singing Itsy Bitsy Little Spider has more views. (Both on my old channel, not this one). I can't remember what Ms. Bean sang, but her voice was great.

imma go ahead & recommend shoshana's cover of "make it rain" live at the ace hotel/theater; i highly doubt anyone would disagree that's the performance to watch...it's easily her most popular, & with good reason...i hope you choose to enjoy it with us soon! :)
