He definaltely kicks ass live but in this one instance I have to agree. On the studio album the bass is LOUD and its needed to drive the song while Ted has a lot of quiet interludes. The Bass is so important to this song

Uncle Ted is one of the most underrated guitarists of all time. I know a lot of folks don't care for him because of his politics...but you have musicians on both sides of the aisle with that. I'm a Michigan boy, saw these guys numerous times growing up. Probably the loudest, damn guitarists I've ever heard...his Fender amp stacks were the stuff of legends.

It was indeed a crazy show. Saw him backing Alice Cooper. He was all over the stage, from on top of 15 foot high stacks to the other side of the stage in seconds. Still don't know HTF he did it. And Ted was singing for most of it.

the studio version of Stranglehold is one of the greatest hits of all time, even though the live video had a little change up during the guitar solo it was a great example of his showmanship. Journey To the Center Of The Mind From Ted Nugent in the Ambroy Dukes, late 60s. Snakeskin Cowboys and Stormtroop'in same album as Stranglehold. Cat Scratch Fever, Weekend Warriors, Wang Tang Sweet Poontang and Great White Buffalo 🔥🎸have fun with fire

- Great live performance. - Studio version is "refined", and definitely worth the listen. More from the drums, too. - Ted "Motor City Madman" Nugent rocked hard in the 70's. LOTS of great songs. Everything on the eponymous first solo release is excellent (of which this song is from). - Enjoy :)

Totally agree! Why people continue to choose "live" over "studio" is beyond me. Especially if they've never heard the song before..........
@swamihuman9395
@swamihuman9395 Жыл бұрын
@@guidosarducci - Live can be excellent, even "better" than studio - depending on one's opinion, of course; and, on the particular band. - Or, each is just "great" in its own way. - If one demands fidelity to the studio recording - which is usually the first version they heard, and connected with; and, typically is better engineered - then live will just not cut it. - BUT, if one values improvisation, and the live recording is well engineered, then live can be the winner. - Led Zeppelin can straddle the studio/live divide: Jimmy Page is an excellent producer / audio engineer (and responsible for the LZ "studio sound") - PLUS, he's a phenomenal improvisationalist (honed during his studio musician days, where he only read chord charts, then improvised on them).
@guidosarducci
@guidosarducci Жыл бұрын
I agree. However, if one chooses a live version arbitrarily, one rates that tune by what they have seen and heard. What if the live version stinks? One might never listen to it again. I still say one should first listen to the tune as the band recorded it; then if ya like it, check out the live versions. There are PLENTY of great live versions of songs, but how would one know that if one just 'picks' one at random...?@@swamihuman9395

Terrible Ted, The Motor City Madman! I saw an interview with him (in the 70's), wherein he stated that he didn't drink or do drugs. However, he would work himself up into an emotional frenzy to the point that he said in the interview that at the end of his concerts, two guys would have to carry him off the stage. To be fair, you should also react to his other hit single: Cat Scratch Fever. Then, you're done with "Uncle Ted".
