It's also not just a musical reference to OP1 but the lyrics themselves are word for word the quote of Armin, "That day humanity remembered etc etc." that the show starts with!

@@Nigels_Wrld If you listen to OP 2 you'll hear a distinct reference to OP 1 as well, and OP 5 (which is also by Linked Horizon, but tends to be pretty underplayed compared to the rest) has a specific part that references the first three OPs. In fact, all the songs from this album are "linked".

The coolest thing about the Linked Horizon AOT openings is that in the full versions, OP2 directly quotes OP1 and OP3 directly quotes OP1 and 2 and OP 5 is based off the melody of OP1, tying them all into each other as Attack on Titan

I love how you can always find little parts of previous AOT songs by Linked Horizon as you listen to them in sequential order and eventually we get that section with all of linked horizons songs in the second opening for season 3: shoukei to shikabane no michi.

Over time, the horse neighs have come to be one of my favorite parts of the drum solo - it’s almost like a diagetic background chorus, and it gets me HYPE Great analysis as always, I like how you frequently pause and rewind to inform and refine your feedback!

Lol ikr there's horse, I laughed when listened to it at the first time. So unique, and it got sound of people saluting too, really fit to be a national anthem. This full version make me love this songs since the short ver didn't get me hooked. OP2 ('Jiyuu no Tsubasa') is the most national anthem for me, love it so much since the first listen. And full ver makes me love it more. Can't wait for your reaction to it!

tony, one piece of information i would like you to know. all songs of the band Linked Horizon that are part of Attack on Titan are connected with each other. the next song always carries a motif from the previous one. that is, in Opening 5, it will have a part that reminds the music of opening 1,2,3, and ending 4 that they sing. yes, there is an ending in the middle of it all. so before you make opening 5 complete, make a video of ending 4 too. it would be cool not to break this music cycle to honor the songs from the previous openings. But that's up to you, i Just want it to give this info.
