This is great. I am going to get a MODX soon so wanted to see someone actually using the interface to do something interesting. Nice clean, no-nonsense style. Will watch more of your videos. Thank you.

Hey Waveform: Great tutorial!.... You're a very good teacher, man. I got lots out of it. Long time Cubase user, just unboxing my new MODX6 today, having nabbed one of the very last units in western Canada right now. Was blown away by the creative scope of this thing and had to purchase. Though I've spent many THOUSANDS of bucks on awesome VST instruments for DAW - I had not been keeping an eye on what Yamaha was doing on the hardware synth side of things since the Motif (which I had and enjoyed for a number of years back in the day, but left it behind to work exclusively in DAW). My first intro to the MODX was only a few days ago... and Wow! -- even with so much already in my DAW, I know I just multiplied my creative capabilities BIG-TIME with the introduction of this new-ish, ever-evolving Yammy into my setup. Will be watching ALL your MODX vids. Thanks so much for the help I know that they'll be!

Once you learn it you love it more. I'm just getting into the pattern sequencer. Been making simple hip hop beats and its so easy. I absolutely love the modx and its no surprise its a top seller. Who needs all them buttons 🤣 I bet you're having fun with yours.

Super cool that you decided to make tutorials for the MODX with a strong focus on DAW integration. I am a Logic user and did not think about redeeming my Cubase license which came with the MODX. However, I might reconsider my early decision and dive into Cubase, nonetheless. Also from the perspective of renewing my audio computer soon, decent Apple hardware is so expensive nowadays. Already looking forward to your next videos, thanks a lot for your efforts. They are really super useful and well made.

Thanks! Going way back, after Atari days I ran Macs. Cubase made the transition from Mac to PC painless as it was seamless. You can run the full version on Mac or PC, so you could switch when ready - I'm guessing that it's the same on Cubase AI..it all depends if you can live without Logic really!

Very helpful. Is there a chance to add independent effects for each drum sound in the MODX? For example I want to sound the kick just in raw, but I want to add reverb for the snare, and I want to add delay for the clap with or without reverb. Is that possible in the MODX, or have to ad it in the DAW? Thanks! EDIT: I just got the answers from another video of yours! Thank you very much, your videos are really great! SUBSCRIBED!

Is it possible in any easy-peacy way to sample the Modx drumkit parts so that you could actually use all the recorded modx drum patterns without having the modx connected -The modx drum kits and the kit parts are all really good and could be great to have as samples when working with groove boxes such as NI's Maschine
@KanshaChannel3 жыл бұрын
When you dissolved the modx midi drum parts to separate tracks, What is easiest way to change each track to audio on separate tracks? Rendering doesn’t work and recording each track manually to an audio track seems tedious. Wondering if that is the only way.
@vypyrr4 жыл бұрын
can you adjust the reverb level on say each snare or tom etc, to make the kit more dry ?

Yes

Very informative, thank you! I am workin in Logic PX, mostly I found the same settings. Now, how do I record from the separated midi channel to separated audio channel at the same time? I figoured out how to do it for each individual midi track, but its a pain in the @ss, would be better to do it at the same time. =)

NICE!! Waveform... Does that drum box comes with Cubase Pro 10/ Halion Sonic 3?

I've not updated to V10 yet, but yes, the drum box is in the full version of Halion Sonic - I was on vacation when Cubase 10 came out, so I'll be trying it out shortly...

What about taiko and cinematic drum kits? are there any and can the Modx be used to crete cinematic dramatic drum performances?
@waveform-synths5 жыл бұрын
Hi Thomas - I've just checked, and there are 19 Taiko samples listed - the MODX is so vast, I had to check the sound list - I cant remember if there are any "massive cinematic" drum ensembles...it would be possible to create them - I'll have a play tonight...
@waveform-synths5 жыл бұрын
Hi Thomas - I've just had a play now, and several of the Taiko samples would lend themselves to a cinematic ensemble. There doesn't seem to be a performance that's created for that purpose, but with layering, detuning and adding some of the many Tom & large drum samples, it would be possible to create an epic army of drummers (great reverb too) - but it would require some modest programming....

I was really hoping for a tutorial on using the drums in modx. I understand the connection with cubase and groove agent but I was hoping to use the modx without these.

Can the drum sample be split into separate tracks (each drum) in the daw?
@waveform-synths3 жыл бұрын
At around the 23 Min mark, I show the pattern being dissolved into separate channels - if you select a drum part into separate pitches, then the part will be split into individual tracks for each drum sound. You can then record these separately to audio tracks if you wish…

@@waveform-synths I have another question.. do you know if "songwriter2015" under guitars can be separated in tracks in the daw?
@Foxandxss5 жыл бұрын
Kind of an odd question here. What MODX do you have? 6/7 or 8?
@waveform-synths5 жыл бұрын
I opted for the 7 - I'm not used to weighted keys, and the position of the wheels means it takes up little more room than a 6 octave with wheels to the left of the keyboard. (I love the playing feel of the keyboard, but the keys are a bit "noisy" and get picked up by the mic!)
@Foxandxss5 жыл бұрын
Thanks. Yeah, it was picked by the mic, that is why I asked. I have the 8 and I had issues with a few keys being extra noisy so I wanted to ask. They are different keybeds so non related. I love your intro music btw, reminds me of the commodore amiga games
