Whether or not this "Blows Your Mind" is completely dependent on where you currently are in your drumming journey so let me just say that this drum fill blew MY mind when I finally figured out what it actually was. I hope you enjoy the video, practice the heck out of this drum fill, and then create something beautiful and unique that you can be proud of that will blow other drummers minds - Mike J

What a brilliant, brilliant drum teacher you are! Your energy and explanations are so inspirational and comprehensible. I'm now 60 and have played drums since I was a young kid. Played professionally for 15 years but I haven't played much for the last 20 years (except on my thighs and various pillows). I'm regularly checking out drummers here on KZbin to get inspired and I found you, and what a great source of inspiration you are! To the degree that I'm now off to my favorite drum store to buy me a great sounding kit and a fine selection of my favorite cymbals. So in a few hours, after having rigged up and tuned the drums in my basement I'll be banging away again. Thanks a million! Kind regards from Stockholm, Sweden.

Mike: This video explains to me exactly what I was trying to figure out for quite a while. And that in a comprehensible and fun way. Thank you. Next time I'm practicing I'm gonna try just this. You're one of the most fun to watch and educational drum teachers on YT that I have encountered in years. Keep it up, I think you're awesome! And one can feel your passion in what you're doing which makes up for a huge chunk of why watching your videos is fun and I don't feel schooled but I feel like somebody's actually trying to explain something to me. As you said in a different video: you educate, you not only demonstrate. Kudos and respect. Cheers!

For me it's those classic funk records with the hi-hat pshts carrying over into the next round. "ba-dam tsht, tsht, tsht, ba-dum." Not actually that difficult to pull off if you put in the time, but it's entirely magical and so versatile in how you can use a nice sizzling hi-hat. I don't think there is any greater feeling than getting the left foot/hi-hat coordination thing right, although it is always put into context by all the other parts you're playing before and after. I also am an incredibly huge fan of double splashes/crashes on the "e" and the "1". What a stupidly fun instrument to play.

No worries at all. That’s what teachers are supposed to do. We had the price set at 499.99 before the muffler. I said if we can add it and stay at that same price I was all for it. Gretsch made it happen. They really are good folks.
