Mike, working on your new Broadkaster kit was one of the proudest & most nerve racking days on the job. Although I had nothing to do with the Keith Carlock, it was an absolute honor to be a part of this kit! You’ve been a huge influence on my drumming life!!! Cheers✌️

Wonderful story, Mike. After only seeing the headline, I was planning some lame joke, something like “new kit? if you’re giving and receiving, then I’m taking and running away!” But that’s even more lame after I saw what you did for your friend. Of course gifting him your kit would be emotional for you. Your tears were little about parting with instruments you played for so long. More so, they were about elevating love for someone who matters to you more than any mere drum set, even such a great one as you gave him. Your bigger gift was giving him your heart. A good life is all about such perfect moments of transition. After my roughest Thanksgiving yet, I’m thankful for you sharing kindness at a time we all could use more of it. Be well, friend.

Congratulations from the heart. It's nice to see people like you around the world. The gesture ennobles you. Not long ago they gave me a Ludwig Super classic from 68, to restore, but a gift. One of the best gifts I have ever received. In addition to this, it must be said that I had not heard such a good and natural sound sample (instead of the audios with steroids that do not even resemble the experience of playing the instrument in person). It is light years away from what Gretsch did with Mark Guilliana. This perfectly represents the sound of the set at medium tuning. Two microphones !! Perfect dynamics and phase. Of course, the drummer who plays the instrument has a lot to do with it.

First: awesome thing you did there. Too cool! Second: I have had the privilege of getting a personal tour of the Gretsch factory by Paul Cooper himself, and met all the fine people who hand build those drums, watched them do thier thing, and even had Paul give us a demonstration of how they treat the bearing edges. It was an amazing experience, and I hope to one day be able to afford to buy a Brooklyn series kit and finally own one of the products of the hard work and passion of those drumsmiths.

That was amazing and the story really hit home! My dad died when I was 6 years old and he played a Gretsch. Unfortunately, his drum set was destroyed in a car accident when I was 8 years old. I have been trying to find that model and piece it back together so I can one day, as you so accurately say, "Fellowship" with that sound and instrument. I want to live out what I remember my dad playing as a kid. It's powerful! If you get a chance, would you be willing to breakdown the specs of all the pieces of your set? I geek out about that stuff. I really appreciate the content and how you focus on teaching. It means a lot. Have a blessed day!
