What really struck me about the docu was just how kind Ewan Mcgregor was as a human being. No airs of a Hollywood superstar. Looked after Charlie both physically and emotionally like a true friend would. Very charming dude.

I met Ewan at L.A. Comic Con on Oct 4, 2024. I told him I got into adventure motorcycle because of him. We talked "Motorcycles" for a bit. He is a real genuine guy

I've just read the book The Long Way Round and I am in awe of what they achieved. I just didn't want the book or the trip to end! It's entirely their fault that my huband and I bought two GS1200 BMW Adventure bikes and experienced the bliss of riding them. We watched The Long Way Down too and found their adventure amazing. I am now on a quest for Charley's book, Race to Dakar, an early Christmas present to myself.

I had Ewan as a Facebook friend for a time too, until people just starting being jerks to him and he had to close it. He's real nice about responding to fans there, too (though he doesn't do it as often as he used to- probably because he has more followers than he can keep track of!), so you could try connecting with him again. :)

The fact that Claudio preferred his $1000 Russian bike to the BMW does not support your position. I think they'd have done a lot better with lighter bikes.

As much as I loved the whole Adventure, they were alone, out there in no man’s land, struggling with the elements... and two crew cars with all the supplies in the world. When I did my sojourns thru the Philippines and Indonesia it was - me - just me and my luggage and camera gear... had I disappeared no one would have ever known.

Respect to you man, but to be fair, they tried very hard to never involve the crew - which they seem to have managed pretty successfully until they hit the Mongolian hellscape. From there to Alaska I agree that it was less of a solo biking adventure and more of a generic survivalist tv program.

Charly gets props! Ewan? Eh, man-up-picture boy (but what can you expect from a dick who dumped his wife and kids for the latest update actress?) Honestly, knowing you have all the gear at your fingertips is a hell of a lot more than knowing there is nothing behind you… or just are oblivious (both in my case… wouldn’t do it now!) But they did seem to play out in Mexico where he celebrity status was inviting the possibility of kidnapping… from now on… all adventures are will be on set with millions of insurance to protect cutie-pie from getting his face wreck… 😏

@@THEDOORIZCLOSED He only mentioned being an actor or movie star a couple of times. He also mentioned he liked being on a bike because he’s just another bloke on a bike. All the times his fans recognized him, he was always gracious and took photos with them and signed autographs.
