Sad to see not only ABBA but that whole era of greater sensitivity pass. ABBA just have something which endears them and their music to you. Unique and deeply touching.

It's not weird, Zeddy. I love this song! Some may think that this is a weakness, but the in-depth, aware and warmhearted ones love how this expresses exactly how we feel.

exactly! i just meant weird as in I wasn't expecting it to hit me that way! great song

It's not weird. It's such a powerful song about departure, realizing that there's nothing left but memories, and that you have to go separate ways. It's recorded right after Frida's and Benny's divorce, and Frida's delivery is so powerful and heartbreaking at the same time. In Voyage, the beginning is acapella and there's an extra verse with Frida belting out her sorrow and pain - it's definitely onw of the emotional highlights of the show. Yes, I understand your tears.

The performance of this in the Voyage concert is absolutely heartbreaking

Totally agreed. Benny's son, Ludwig, who was one of the producers of Voyage, convinced Benny to go with the arrangement used in the show. Benny wasn't keen originally but he gave in. Beautiful performance in an incredible show ❤

"When all is said and done" (1981) It is a very good song (8pts) that is part of the album "The Visitors" and was released as a single in U.S., not in UK the brunette Frida has the leading voice and sings it with a lot of energy and power, to which the blonde Agnetha joins in some verses and chorus The official video shows all four ABBA members in separate waves it's the time of the divorce of Frida & Benny (as many said, is a song inspired in both) and remember that Agnetha & Benny separated more than two years ago (curiosity, looks Agnetha more sad in her eyes and facial expresions) ABBA is a specialist in breakup songs, and in combining sad lyrics with catchy melodies. and this is one of the last, before their breakup as a group for almost 40 years If you want to see another side of ABBA, equally emotional, I suggest you listen to "Slipping through my fingers" in the same album Here is a live link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/l6ezhZeAnZedbNU I wish you a good weekend best regards from Buenos Aires, Argentina South America

This is my favorite ABBA song, hand down. Here in the U.S., it was released as the first single from 'The Visitors' and it was a catchy pop song. But now that I'm approaching 60, the lyrics have a lot more meaning! The video is hard for me to watch. I always have the same reaction that you had.😢

One of Frida's best vocals. I wish this got more air play. This is Frida's post Benny Divorce song. And what a fabulous musical arrangement.

ABBA recorded a Spanish version of this, titled, "No Hay A Quien Culpar". By this time, both couples were divorced, and it would only be a short matter of time before they disbanded. 💔

It is an emotional song. It has a finality to it, the ending of something great. Yet it also speaks of hope and a new beginning. This was ABBA's last top 40 hit in the United States reaching number 27 on the charts. After the Winner takes it all ABBA had kind of lost touch with it's American fans. Their music became more and more Theatrical and didn't connect well. They did try to keep up with the Jones's by recording I am the City, Should I laugh or Cry, The Day before you came, Cassandra, Under Attack and a few others but those songs didn't fit in with what was on the radio in 1982 and 83. The new popular music had passed them by. Duran,Duran, Paul Young, Lionel Ritchie, Pat Benatar, The Police, U2, Boy George, Wham etc, etc.

What a treat 3 abba songs! My all time favorite group. Thanks. You were right This is one of their last songs. Bjorn the guitar player and Agnetha the blonde girl had already divorced and Benny the piano player and Frida the red head were in the midst of one (this is their break up song) Benny had cheated on her and got another woman pregnant. Shortly after the next thing to go after him was her beautiful long red hair into a mullet style as a screw you Benny statement lol
@skippybartalozzi10 ай бұрын
he did not get her pregnant, that is not true.
@Vikinggirl167910 ай бұрын
@@skippybartalozzi um yes he did. How was Ludvig Anderson born then lol. Benny and Frida divorced in November of 1981 after she found out. Benny and Mona married just weeks later in December 1981 and Ludvig was born January 2 1982. Oddly Ludvig is one of the master minds of the new voyage concerts.
@Lisa-M10 ай бұрын
@@ttbboo66 No, they separated 1981. And Mona was already pregnant then. The divorce was at 26th November 1981 and in January 1982 Benny's and Mona's son was born.

I can name countless song she did by herself where the true quality of her voice overwhelms you. Here's just one of many. I just discovered it. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oJfMpZiod5mea5o. I can't believe these two women happened to find each other and happened to join the same group. I can't believe the two men knew how to most of their wonderful voices.

You're not alone in how you reacted soulfully. Happens to all of us fans. They can layer a melancholy situation like a breakup and weave in a good track to make us feel happy. Benny and Bjorn are Masters at that! Awesome reaction!

Sad that B&B treated this song the way it did-should have been released all over the world as a single and yes you should know this one as all should! B&B should have also kept the longer version for the album, hell it only went to 4:00 if that. Thankfully I play an extended fan version on KZbin done very brilliantly-the way the song should have been lengthened.

Absolutely catchy song; ABBA tried to move forward into the 80's; unfortunately compositionally unfinished. Benny said in a German TV interview 2021 in connection with Voyage ABBAtare: a good pop songs needs SOMETHING like a riff that you will remember forever. On some songs from The Visitors and Voyage he had...... ✌✌✌
@kyachdistent13014 ай бұрын
You're getting emotional because that is the way that ABBA, unlike the loser talent-free Taylored Spliffs and Knowles and slagdonnas of this world, connect with the listener because they are complete talents, and this is known as Frida and Benny's "divorce song" in the same devastating way the more feted 'The Winner Takes It All' is for Agnetha and Bjorn. Go with it, you're SUPPOSED to feel emotion, granted real emotion. Probably not used to over there with the dreadful US mainstream of what passes for music, but then, thanks to everyone's de-sensitivity to the new talent-free order of taking anything by anyone these days, it comes from every bloody country, including my own. (Shiver). The best days are all in the past where so many things are concerned, and music certainly one of them, hell it was the first to go!😪😪🥱🥱😫😫🤔🤔I guess you just haven't heard anything decent or normal in decades, so this really shocks and overwhelms. I'm real glad, though, awesome mate. And now you really must play 'CASSANDRA'-that will knock you out!! Come on, everyone, r-e-q-u-e-s-t 'CASSANDRA!!'
