As someone who has lost friends and family to drunk drivers, this story crushes me and then it brings back all of the anger. I will never understand why people drive drunk. They know they’re going to drink and drive. The alcohol isn’t forced down their throat, the keys aren’t forced into their hand, nor is someone forcing them to drive. Thank you for telling their story 💕

Nobody leaves the bar thinking ‘I’m bored, think I’ll slam into a family tonight’. I’m not defending drunk drivers. If the penalties were more severe maybe there’d be second thoughts. Idk. Been drunk drivers since the invention of the automobile. Having an alcoholic father I’m of the opinion if your pulled over drunk behind the wheel roadside execution should be an option.

8 years is not a good amount of time in prison after killed several people. He should have not even had the ability to get out on probation, for at least 50 years. Those people did life in the grave, and the drunk sits in prison 8 years, no way is that enough. Second drunk driving should have been life.

This brought back a memory I had forgotten about. We were on our way to our family vacation in MI on a narrow two lane road. We were going up a hill and not far from the top suddenly a car headed the other direction was in our lane! I saw the car but was too little to get scared really, Dad was driving and in control in my mind. Thankfully my dad had quick reflexes and managed to pull off of the road in time. We just sat there for awhile, and my mom burst into tears. It had to be a very close call.

What a tragic story. Tom has to be one of the strongest men on the planet to be able to move forward after so much loss. Then to possibly have lost a newborn with his new wife years later. He is definitely a warrior. I hope he has other children. I pray for his family. I believe he has endured more than his fair share of tragedy in life. I did not know of this story. I pray that he has finally learned his lesson and no longer drinks - and if he drinks he doesn't drive. Alcoholism is a disease. But he gets the choice to drive or not so I pray he chooses correctly. He is just lucky he didn't kill anybody in the 2nd accident. He got far too little time for killing 4 people in the 1st place. They make hooch in prison. So he could have been still drinking in there too. Ron, thank you for sharing this with us. It appeared to be a beautiful day for a walk.

I automatically know I don't feel safe driving. I actually hand my keys over. I never want to take a life. I am never falling down drunk but I know when to stop and spend the night. I don't think I could live knowing I killed someone, let alone a family. We need stronger penalties for drunk drivers. Also hold accountable the people letting them drive. Why didn't the girlfriend call police? We need harder justice.

I don´t know why countries don´t take away the license when someone drives drunk. A car is a weapon and innocent people are in danger, all ages which makes it even worse.
