I'm a former deputy sheriff, and I've got to say that I would NOT have ever locked someone up for DUI on a bike. Just no way. I'd take the bike first.

My friend ended up with a serious concussion and detached retina due to a bike rider. She was just walking around a corner, one moment I saw her, then she walked by a bush and I saw a bike rider, the next moment she was down. It can happen fast and there can be some serious injuries, not just for the rider, but also the people around them. So, while I am not sure a lock up is needed I can see why and when that can happen. We don’t know all the details, and only see such a short clip of the whole. I will not take either side beyond saying that hopefully this guy won’t ride drunk as it can cause harm. I think a ticket is a better step than jail, but again the details of his arrest beyond the charge weren’t given.

I know here in Pennsylvania you can get a dui on a bicycle, riding a horse, driving a horse, riding a lawnmower, in a boat, and they do effect your drivers license if you have one
