That remark in the beginning about racial casting hit me. "It's primarily POC cast members as a notable choice made from the beginning" "So like the opposite of the usual thing" Like the idea that theatre is seen by some as prohibitively White and unfriendly to non-Whites by its own nature is foreign to me since I grew up with it and am a White person. But it's like an interesting Affirmative Action style argument that I don't hear often. Not only is theatre seen as a White thing, but so much so that it becomes off-putting to some POC fans and pros as a possible aspect of their lives, that's crazy.

We've commoditized the public voice of our communities and limited it only to the wealthy and have since warped our art to fit that mold. Hamilton, as an example, is meant to be showing immigrants building the nation, conveniently forgetting that almost everyone involved had issues with racism and prejudice. Angelica Church would have questions if she were shown this show, first of which I'm sure would be why is a black woman portraying her and I bet she wouldn't be happy about it.
