You can tell he was trying to get her to do stuff with him and all she cared about was drinking. He buying tickets to concerts and shows and asking her to go on walks with him and she rather be in the house drinking. So he started accusing her of cheating because why don't you want to be seen with me. He convinced himself she was doing something so he did and it felt good. I believe she around because he pays her bills and he takes care of her and don't ask her for anything and she is depressed and trying to come out of it and it's hard because he at this point is full blown cheating but he is good to her.
