Healthy skin is an inside job. Healing our skin starts with our GUT. I'm giving you guys my pro tips to jump start your skin's healing process from the inside out! The best part about making these swaps for healthy skin is that you will feel so much better quickly -- and, you will start to see a change in your skin! This is not an elimination diet or some type of fad. My recommendations are all grounded in science. Our skin is a window into our overall health, so it is a really powerful indicator of what's going on inside.

Dear Dr. WB, you are very brave to not always agree with some medical school teachings. In the early 90's (before google) I refused to work with amalgam and refuse to fill patients mouth with them and paid a painful price. The dean of our Dental school fought with me on this. I told her mercury should not be in our mouth and especially near our brain. She expelled me from Dental school! So great that you follow you instinct!!! So true: beauty from the inside out. It take some work but so worth it!!!

Thank you so much for sharing this experience! Wow! I agree that it is sometimes very challenging to follow our instincts and disagree, but it can be very well worth it to make useful changes and updates in our fields!

I went on a diet that never mixed proteins and carbohydrates in the same meal for 2 years for a health crisis and my skin looked amazing. Mixing those two macros spikes insulin much higher than eating alone.

my motto has always been not how many calories but what type. Instead of focusing so much on calories for weight loss, which I think is total bs, I’m more cognizant about things that spike insulin like frequent eating patterns, sugar and refined carbs. I focused more on whole foods, fibre dense, fermented foods and beef liver, it wasn’t till then I saw a dramatic change in my skin and digestion.

Thank you for the video! As in undergrad approaching finals week, my skin has definitely been at an all-time low, so I appreciate all the advice. It's nice to see a video on internal health for skin rather than externally

I suggest chicory and coffee blends for those who are coffee drinkers. Chicory is also good for prebiotics as I understand it.

Hello Whitney, I looked for you in KZbin because I wanted to let you know that I picked-up a book that you wrote translated to Spanish: Piel Radiante, Intestino Sano, the book is really good but the translation is terrible since it can be distracting, sometimes comic and even confusing, for example in chapter 8 where you speak about your parents, I had to figure out based in the context that your father was teaching Sing Language not a weird language of signals as the translation literally reads😅. I am looking for the book in English to enjoy reading it. Next time I suggest you look for a translator that understand and applies words appealing to all Hispanics not only people from Spain (I assume the translator was Spaniard for the use of very archaic words that regular Spanish speaking people would have to look in a dictionary) thank you for reading my comment and keep up the good work!

Naturally there's supposed to be (low) fat and sugar in almonds / almond milk + much lower sodium. Numbers at 4:13 are way off.

What you recommend sounds a lot like the ketogenic diet. Do you have any input on that?
@DrWhitneyBowe
@DrWhitneyBowe 3 жыл бұрын
While some of my patients thrive on a ketogenic diet, the science doesn't support restricting carbs to that extent. For healthy skin, opting for lower glycemic index options such as oatmeal, quinoa, barley, and sweet potato allows you to enjoy carbs without creating that inflammatory response in the skin.

Like most things in the west, medicine is rooted in capitalism. From this perspective we can see how difficult it is for people to maintain health as they constantly receive mixed messages from the things that are allowed in our food and what SHOULD be allowed in our food.

Lmao. That yoghurt pot flashes up in this video like you're making so very half arsed attempt at subliminal product advertising. Either you are and that's hilarious or you made a edit mistake hard on this video. Thanks for the info though.

Definitely not trying to acheive any subliminal product advertising, but appreciate your humor and feedback.
