Actually it is any shell they just change color based on who is in the shell red for Mario, green for Luigi, blue for Toad, pink for Peach, and light blue for Rosalina.oh and I think the only natural shell color is green.

You forgot about the Red Shell in Super Mario Bros. 2 where it was the first game you can ride on it before Super Mario 64. How are you forgetting this stuff so many times? Umm, you can't Shell shells upwards in Super Mario Bros. 3... You never even talked about what the shells were used for with how Green, Red, and Gold act like.
