LOL. Andy, I don't know what you might have for tippet material but that might be the reason the trout got bite shy on you. Only thing I can think of since you both were using the same fly. I have found old tippet material can get a glare and that can cause trout in calm clear conditions to give you a false strike or be bite shy. Love your content!! But all hail the trout queen..👑!!

I’m guessing you have forceps with you, just how you said he had taken the hook far. But if you manage then fair play good video

All our hooks are barbless, just a push with my finger and it popped out. Always have forceps just in case though!

can i ask a something please i know you need a rod licence are you or have you had to pay for fishing in the areas eg can any one fish where you are as i live burton on trent im new to fly fishing and would like to go to some the areas you have been im getting a season ticket for brecon beacons fly fishing river usk as i go there a lot camping but live in burton so need to master it at home but i dont want to just go to ponds only please can you help?

your best bet would be to join one of the local clubs, as there is little, if any, free fly fishind water around derbyshire. there are plenty of clubs locally who have stretches of river which you can fly fish though, and that would be the best way to go. Google Peacock Fly Fishing Club, Leek and District Angling, Derby County Angling, there's probably more I cant remember too!
